Teenbeat Mayhem launch date......

Mike, I just posted another batch of sales in the G45 eBay sales thread. While doing this, I was checking to see where they ranked in TBM. The Blox - Hangin' Out received a score of "8", but I don't see it listed in the top 1000 label scans. Oversight on my part or yours?

I noticed this with a different record that rated 7 and of which I had never seen. The 1000 includes some 6's but I could not find the record I was seeking (Night People on Tuggie). I have not looked for the Blox - I can always look at my copy :D

It would be nice to have each record in the top 1000 have a star and its corresponding number next to the entry in the discography.

Maybe there should be an appeals court for records some think were rated too low.

My only wish - an index that lists the releases contained within TBM by label.
I can't "like" this enough. I'd also like a state by state breakdown. I'd pay honest money for quick and dirty CafePresses of this sort of thing, frankly....

Nope, incorrect rating in the discography - scored as a 6 (6.800) ranked at #1,020 overall

Yup, another one that should be a 6 in the discography - scored a 6.600 ranked at #1,274
seems I missed a few more than I thought - it's what I get for not inputting the entire project into a database:mad:

Wow, folk janglers don't appear to score too highly....

Yeah...I'm stunned at how low some all-time classics scored. I didn't vote in all sessions, but when I cross-referenced many of my 7 or 8 scores, they typically received a 4, 5 or 6. You Say by The Nightcrawlers is a 10 in my book, and I think it scored a 6. Both sides of His Majesty's Coachmen are at least a 7 in my book, but I think they scored 5 and 4. I'm going by memory so might be off, but no doubt there's no love for the janglers!

The cabinet could have done with a 'janglehead' like me to boost those scores.

I guess the conservative ratings philosophy is lost in translation...a 5 rating is good, not a slight, and not mediocre. When you see the listing by vote breakdown, you will get a better picture. There were a few guys that were very strict in awarding songs a rating higher than a 6. A couple were quite liberal with the 7 and ups. Rich S. is probably the one voting member to match the consensus vote with his own via the most number of songs.
If every song we personally love is a 7 or better, than how are the best of the lot (the uppermost sect of tunes) really judged in standing? Every highly regarded song can't be rated an 8, 9 or 10. I voted some ballads as 10s. No one on the cabinet rated any ballad more than maybe a 6. Therefore, my own personal taste is thrown into the mix, and then becomes part of the overall consensus.

Being a "numbers" guy, I of course started reviewing the ratings prior to reading the explanation of the ratings. Accordingly, I initially thought the ratings appeared low overall. However, once I actually took the time to read your explanation of the rating scale, the rationale behind the ratings made sense. As a matter of fact, I even considered adding a recommendation early on to other readers to make sure they read your ratings explanation first.

At invoice #008, I have had my copy of TBM for nearly (2) weeks now. It's wonderfulness has been described more eloquently by others. However, one thing that I have yet to see mentioned is that it also SMELLS really good! Unfortunately, the new book smell is beginning to fade. Almost time to order a new copy?

I fully understand the ratings and did so before I made my comment.

I can't for the life of me understand how a song as sublime and brilliant as 'Bitter Bells' can only achieve a '5'.
I know that score doesn't make it poor by any means and is infact deemed a good garage side with typical elements of the 'sound' worthy of owning and playing on a regular basis.

That is a '10' in my book - no question about that.

So to get a mid '5' average probably means some voted the song as '2' or '3' or lower. This scares me somewhat.

But it's good to discuss these things and I'm sure the ratings will surprise more of us.

Thanks, I get it now. This should provide more incentive for a second book with all the listed ratings!

Ok, I had a look to see where "Bitter Bells" song ranks overall:

#2,930 out of 14, 783 (so far)

Here is the vote breakdown:

5.666 8-1 7-1 6-5 5-4 3-1
