Teenbeat Mayhem launch date......

But is it gonna have free download codes?

Seriously though, I´m glad it has taken such a long time to complete. It just means it will be more accurate.

It seems like only yesterday I first read about the book in the liner notes for the Nuggets boxed set. Congrats, Mike. You've undertaken a task that probably took away for a while some of the enjoyment in listening to garage music. I'm sure it will all be worth it.

Woo hoo! Can't wait to feast my eyeballs on the fruits of your long labor! It's gonna be fun to see the rankings.

$100 for a book of this magnitude is chicken feed. Actually, I'm surprised it's gonna be so low.

I certainly could (and maybe should) charge more, based upon the amount of personal time and work effort required to get this thing constructed, researched, proofed and printed. However, I plan to target Teenbeat Mayhem to university libraries, and other organizations which are outside of the worldwide '60s garage oriented clique. A retail price crossing into the three figure range would have an adverse affect on marketing of the book.
Besides, the worldwide economy is still swimming int he toilet, and I'd like everyone to have an opportunity to purchase the book. The content of TeenBeat Mayhem is such that it easily appeals to neophytes, the musically curious, and the knowledgeable fanbase.

Fantastic news, Mike! I can't wait to see the results of this arduous task..i also can't wait to see some version of the G List updated..I know when we were chatting you thought updating the G200 on line would sufficient. It was always a catalyst for great conversation and discussion among the members..

What's this rumor about a golden ticket inside 5 copies that awards the lucky recipient with a copy The Graveyard Five 45? hahahah!! Seriously, congratulations!

at last! hard to imagine all the cross country chasing of bands that was undertaken for this...maybe a book of all those adventures could be the sequel:confused:

I'll plan on this as a purchase- I somehow recall this endeavor was started a very long time ago. Congrats Moptop! There is nothing more eloquent as a record collector/researcher who cares so much about the facts and history! It is almost like Frodo and the ring...

We are so very close to putting the wraps on the book! We will be completed around mid-May, if not earlier.

After reading this post, I set my alarm to May 17, slightly after mid-May, just to be on the safe side. Since it rang this morning and I enjoy reading your progress-reports, MTM: What's new in TBM-land?

Here are the latest details:

Price of book will be $99.95
2000 copies to be printed, at least for the 1st run - no, I'm not numbering each book. I'll autograph a copy for a fee:lol:

US customers will probably get first dibs to buy, only because website has to be set up to allow for overseas purchases, and that might delay ordering - again, it depends on how the gateway payment system comes to be. If I can't get a merchant account, I'll have to go with paypal for overseas purchases, something I'm not keen on doing. Of couse, anyone overseas is more than welcome to pay directly by a check or money order drawn on a US bank.

US customers will pay by money order, check or if desired, cash.

Yours truly is the prez, vice prez, operations mgr, bookeeper, and shipping clerk, and first author to join the outfit.

I just blew thru 1K over the past seven days to toward business start-up costs. And the tally isn't done yet. More debt!
I have accepted the quote from the book printer. Details have been ironed out, and I have until June 11th to pay 50% of the print cost. The pdfs should also be ready to go by then, so that would commence the printing of TeenBeat Mayhem. The hold up would be the delay in receiving the CIP block, used for classification by libraries in filing books, timing should be so that it arrives by the 11th.
Expected turnaround time is 4 to 6 weeks, since it is a hardcover book. The company farms out the hardcover manufacturing portion to another outfit (kinda like some pressing plants used to do in old days, sending out for stampers to be plated by Nashville Matrix).

Mike,
Do you make me emigrate to the US? If that's the only way to get the book I'll apply for a green card. :)
The dollars are already burn in my pocket!
Regards,
Ad from The Netherlands

Don't worry, AD..I am not doing any wholesale or distribution deals with a US or overseas outfit. Unless they wish to buy multiple copies at full retail price! I would consider such opportunities much later, after the initial buying wave ebbs - I hope it doesn't, though!
At this retail price, I do not suspect to encounter any "hoarding buyers", those types who wish to purchase several copies and "sit on them" to resell at a much higher price later on.

So...if all goes well we're looking at the end of July for completion.

I plan to burn a vacation day while I read TBM on my deck...

I'll gladly pay whatever postage is necessary to get a copy down under, and tell my mates too.
