Impossible to find, or just difficult and expensive? I'm guessing the former. Trying to work out whether to get the reissue, which i generally hate doing.

Other than the 6-7 unplayed copies that surfaced in the late '90s from an old east coast based record distributor, original pressings have always been tuff to find, $800+

Welcome aboard, Marv. Are The Beachnuts recording again in 2012, or are you reissuing the five demo songs ("Hang On Sloopy", "High Heel Sneakers", "Whittier Blvd.", "It's Alright" and "Club A Go Go") that you recorded in 1966?

Marv is on the left...

Thx greenfuzz. We'd love to issue new recordings written by The Beachnuts, and not planning to issue the demo album you mentioned. The demo preceded our Pickwick International recording of "Iconoclastic Life" and "Nature's Company."

BTW, as you may know, while many think the band originated in Chicago or New York, all the band members are originally from the Asbury Park, NJ area (Point Pleasant Beach, Mantoloking, and Asbury Park). In fact, the photo you attached to your reply (directly below) and the band photo with instruments below was taken at a photo session one bright sunny day at the beach in Belmar, NJ, about two miles from Asbury Park.

The shot with instruments illustrated a teen magazine article that ran when the 45 rpm of Iconoclastic Life/Nature's Company was issued by Pickwick.

Interesting note--we were all too young to sign the recording contract with Pickwick and our parents had to co-sign the agreement to make everything legal!

Cool photos!
I'd love to hear the flip-side. Would anybody mind posting it?
Marv, do you play the sound and songs that you used to play in the 60s?

At our reunion, I'm sure we'll play some of the great 60's music which I still play....but I'm sure we'd have our own take on any new music we write and record. My goal is to get the band together in 2012 for U.S./European gigs and recording....I know Lowell Stanley, the lead singer on Iconoclastic Life is ready any time; and lead guitarist Keith MacGregor has some tunes to record!

There is a lot of mis-spelling in this: on the label it says "Beachnuts" and on the drums "Beach-Nuts". And Fuzz, Acid & Flowers and others sources call them the Beech-Nuts. Does anyone know the right name?
AZ54

Good question AZ54...something all of our band members have discussed. Pickwick, our recording company, called us the "Beachnuts"....some liberty was taken in the band's spelling on my drum artwork, but still the same spelling-- "Beach.Nuts." Like you, we've notice that the spelling of the band's name on Websites outside of the U.S., i.e. Europe and Australia, was changed to the "Beechnuts." I always refer to the band as the Beachnuts. Whichever spelling you see, we're the same group that recorded "Iconoclastic Life" and "Nature's Company."
