The Daze Endz?

"Knock on Wood" should give you a pretty good idea what its like, ie not garage. I've heard the flip "What Can I Do" & it certainly wasn't garage.

The flip "What Can I Do" is certainly worthy of a garage / teenbeat tag, but it has horns (well, an alto and tenor sax is what I hear playing in tandem) throughout the song, playing the main riff. The lead vocal has that 'edge' too. There is a nifty, searing fuzztone guitar break in the middle. "Knock On Wood" is garage too, albeit rather pedestrian from a listening standpoint - teens tackling a soul tune in their own way.

Trumpet and sax IIRC, neither of which were band members, just used on the record. Unfortunately they recorded at WAM instead of making the trip 60 miles NW to record in Cleveland. Youngstown area band - the guitar break is by member Jim Gustafson of Poobah fame. DE was not his first band (I think the first was the Rubber Band) but as he told me "my first recorded guitar solo".....I've always liked this record.

thank you both for your input. very much appreciated. i'll go with mike's evaluation rather than michael m.

i don't mind horns.. if mike says it's worthy of a garage 'tag', then i'll go with that!

but is it worth the asking price?

I think it's probably 3x what it's worth. If you look at the sellers other prices (nearly $700 for Little Phil on Dot - 2x what its worth - not to mention Dee Felice Trio) they don't get it. I'd make an offer and see if they bite.

It's certainly bizarre how when someone purchases a record through a Make an Offer listing, the final price shows as the full Buy It Now, even though it might have sold for much much less than the original price - could have been a penny for all we know. This could show up on popsike with the high original price but no indication of what it actually sold for.
