The Gargantuan Thread Of 60's Garage Seven-Inch Covers!!!

Another 20, all rating at least scarce. Actually the Soothsayers and Intruders (and perhaps the Jujus) should definitely have been included in my Top Two Dozen (instead of Alliance and Esquires)

WHAT...No BOY BLUES!?

As an aside, here's a list of the major US '60s garage picture sleeves I have not been able to find yet for one reason or another

Troyes - Love Comes Love Dies
Chosen Few - Get In On Life
Sonics (Inc.) - You Don't Hear Me
Psychotics - I'm Determined
Twentieth Century Zoo - You Don't Remember
Interns - I've Got Something To Say (missed the ebay copy)
Baytovens - Waiting For You
Invaders - You Really Tear Me Up
Epics - White Collar House
The Id - Rotten Apple

By far the most desirable of those is the Id, followed by the Chosen Few and Sonics Inc.
I sold a stone Mint BAYTOVENS to BW around 10 years ago. Wish I had known you then...

Never saw that before...Is the record as cool as the sleeve?

I have no idea, Mark. I found two copies of this sleeve last year in a box of records. Unfortunately, there was no record in either one. The back of the sleeve lists the songs as 'Penetration' and 'Elephant in Green Onions'. The spare sleeve left in a trade that included several New England wants. I ran it by BM who had never seen it either.

How many of youse has the Creations "Don't Be Mean" sleeve? I never saw it until TBM. Another rare one is the Nazar Blues pic sleeve.

I'm also looking for the Stairway to the Stars sleeve. I wonder if that was just a promo pic attached to the sleeve like the Twilights and the Toads.

Interesting, If I just saw the band name and font I would has guessed it was a mid 70s Boston/NYC proto punk record.

Let's me rephrase that..... You are the UNDISPUTED KING! ;)

I might have to dispute that!

(readers please excuse my removal of the list I posted yesterday. I later thought some people mentioned may not actually want to be named in public, even as top of their respective trees!)

Has anyone got the Tino & the Revlons 'Little Girl, Little Girl' pic cover on Dearborn?

I'm looking into the group at the moment and have just found out that lead singer Tino was murdered in Jamaica in 1983. seemingly jumped on by some local thugs and stabbed to death...

here's a copy off popsike tino and the revlons ps.jpg

Yes, that was tragic what happened in Jamaica. I met him at a party just a week before he went.

Yes, it was a shock! I heard he tried to stop a thief from stealing the wife's purse and was stabbed for it.

btw, there are two LPs by Tino & Revlons...which one are you referring to?

There are only two sleeves of "Don't Be Mean" known to me. Both came into Fladd's Music center in Milford, CT back in the early 1990s from someone who brought in a couple big boxes of 45s. My friend happened to be there that day, and bought both Creations (45 and sleeve). I purchased the 2nd copy from him. I have never seen another one, as the record itself is damn impossible to find even here, where it was locally released at the time. The surviving band members and the families of the deceased members had/have no records.

An ignorant question: why is it you 60s hounds are so careful with pictures and sleeves and labels?
It feels on the verge of basement-paranoia when compared to the availability of 70s punk-dito.

Is it that the price of the 45s differs to that of 70s punk, or a different approach because of some other reason?

When I look at highly informative and educational and FUN sites such as kbdrecords and other 70s punk sites, I really feel that there is some kind of stigma going on. That there is an economic side to it, and a secretive culture that treats these pictures as trades and a currency of sorts.

I might be a part of the give-me-everything-for-free-generation, but I think this is a club closing the lid on itself.
I find it especially strange considering the common understanding that there's really no money anymore in comps or re-releases.
I also think that the target consumers are not the same when it comes to d-loaders and vinyl hounds.

2 cents from me, you are free to tear me to pieces now. I'm a big boy (and hung like a horse), I can take it.
