Sometimes I forget how much I love these guys until I came across a live 25 minute (8 songs including the Kim Fowley intro) that closely match the the tracks on the Primitive LP that came out back in 2020 on the Beat Rocket label (BeatRocket BR-154). Some Youtube channels date the live recordings at 1967/ 68 and I'm hoping somebody can tell me where the set was recorded. Any info on this elusive band would be welcome and in the meantime I'll post some photos I found on the Hollywoodhangover website that I've never seen before. Clearly from someone's private collection.

Here is an interview also:

Enjoy!

I’m almost certain the Groupies live set was recorded in California. Neil Hopper recorded several bands and sold the tapes to Sundazed. The stash formed the basis for several of the label’s earlier releases, including the Road Runners, E-Types, and Kings Verses. Neil sent me a list of everything he sold Sundazed, and there’s a large collection that has still never been released, including several obscure local acts. I can only presume the quality of the material isn’t up to release standards.
