Did some digging and got a hold of Chris Walsh, who was in the band at one time during its existence. He provided some excellent info:
Sean Rudd, drums- Ed Nelson, vocals/guitar, Brian Shaw, bass- Me guitar/vocals. There was a short red haired guy, Robbie I think that played lead before me. I was with the band in ’64 & ’65. There was a record, released as the Plastic People with Ed fronting. The single, ”Who Can Tell” features Ed and some studio guys, produced by Steve Love (who worked with Tommy Roe). Rodney Bingenheimer was already establishing himself as a tastemaker and he helped us. He recommended us to a promoter that put us opening for Them on a couple of their first dates. We did a bunch of the Longshoreman’s Hall gigs that were an early collaboration between Bill Graham and Chet Helms. By that time the group was called the Columbus Group and later the Rubiyat. I thought the place we played in Redwood City was called Cinnamon Cinder. At any rate in Jan. 1966 I was with the Columbus Group, which was originally that group but by then had no other members from LR. I had also moved to SF by then. We became the Rubiyat a couple of months later. If it’s properly dated it may be a post me version of the band. Sean had said he was going to put the band back together when he left the Columbus Group.
