Does anyone on here know the line-up of the group that recorded a 45 in 1967 as The Maze on CALLA?

The Maze - Chained To Your Heart / I Got Love - CALLA 135

No, but I do know I Got Love was a cover of You Got Love - Lance Fox and The Bloodhounds http://www.spinthegroove.com/2011/04/lance-fox-bloodhounds-you-got-love.html

..and Chained to your Love was released by Bobby Moore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qdwvy7fbXY8 almost the same week...... lol Now I'm telling you stuff you've found on Soul Source forum.

Thanks!

Actually, that was me who wrote that on the SoulSource forum earlier today. I'm trying to establish if the Maze 45 on Calla is by the same group that released a 45 on 20th Century Fox in 1968 as Benny Troy & The Maze. The vocalist on the uptempo side on the BT&TM single sounds quite a bit like the lead vocal on the Maze 45. Would be nice to know for sure though and not just speculate.

listening to "I don't know you Anymore" and the guy is much more ermmm smooth the Calla Maze singer has some growl to his voice. I'd speculate not the same.

Strange a band with US and European releases have an unknown line up. Good Luck.

Sebastian check out Ben E Troy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFD2jwcS03c a lot more similar??/ well to me

Ben E Troy on ATCO, Benny Troy & The Maze on 20TH CENTURY FOX and Benny Troy on DELITE (the disco label) are all the same guy.

The uptempo side of the 45 on 20th Century has got a grittier vocal. The ballad side vocal is indeed much smoother/sweeter. You can hear the uptempo side here:

The "european" group with releases on UK Reaction, UK MGM, french Vogue and french Mercury is a UK band with Ian Paice and Rod Evans in the line-up. They later joined Deep Purple.

I suspect that the 45 on US Calla is by a totally different group.

Here's the Billboard review of it from 8 July 1967:

Amazing what you find on fecesbook. Now get outta here before we get in a g45 vs soulsource genre fight. Benny Troy has started to make me feel slightly queasy as I'm sure The Maze and Lance Fox have you too;). I've been digging Bobby Moore though... thanks.
