....a friend was asking for advice on great music for a mix tape of songs all with the theme of 'youth' and the first thing i suggested that he put on it was 'I Need Time' by The Runabouts. If there were one song that really summed up what being an awkward teen is really like, at least lyrically, i cant think of any song that even comes close to nailing it more than The Runabouts tune does. Its just such a well written song too and the lyrics are about as poetic as 60's garage has ever gotten. It all kinda makes me wonder if the band was really made up of teenagers or if an adult wrote the song for a teen band....and of course, internet searches turn up little info on the group...anyone here have a clue about this band's story?

yeah, i already knew they were on a Cinci label and the record apparently came out in 1965, and theres a pic of a (presumably) different Runabouts who had a couple horn players on a youtube thing for a song called 'By The Time I get to Texas'....thers tons of different Runabouts runnin all over the 50's/60's teen scene, but i see very few references to this particular band/record anywhere.
