Sorry for the "outburst". I had no idea who the source was when I wrote it. Nothing gets my ire fired up more than outright disobeying of something that is commonly understood around here in this bunker - we ask that you enjoy for yourself.
People who are involved, and not just lurkers / rarely participating, etc. should be privvy to goodies provided by those who wish to offer them. That's why Mark set up the secret Society.
Apparently people were all typing when I posted. My post was written after Joey D's post, so all the rest were not seen / or posted at the time. I did not stay on G45 after I wrote it as I had to do something else, so I'm reading this thread now.
The original comment made it read (to me) as if someone posted the entire contents of Mark's Compilation a web blog. That is unacceptable, of course, and grounds for immediate dismissal off G45.
As someone who has been doing all kinds of research with intent to share, I completely disagree with the "it's OK / acceptable" to take items posted previously by other folks and place them on your own blog / website without asking. Then, if you receive permission from the other source, then tag with appropriate credits
Or, if you do not want to bother contacting the source, just provide a link to the source website like youtube, etc.
If I decide to write something about a group on my blog, but I don't have access to images, clips or label scans, I would just post a link directed to any of those items, which takes the viewer / reader to the website.
Proper steps to 1 Ask then 2 credit / annotate the source is just common sense, something I was taught in elementary school, a requirement for submitted written work all thru high school and college. Is this just not taught anymore? Am I too old?
