Today took a little drive to a nearby newish Thrift Store, that last week I had scored the comp Oldies in Hi Fi on Chess such a good selection and Meet The Majors on Imperial pretty good soul/doowop from '63. It is a church based charity and the old black woman who works there is hilariously sweet and kind of sassy. I paid 3 bucks each and there was a lot of other soul albums I had left because of condition or the year. This time I asked her if she had 45's she produced a pretty big box from behind her counter. So I left the albums and picked a big bunch of 45's that looked interesting or just great hits. She wanted 2 bucks each...gasp.. I'd pay a dollar for these, I made a pile and 50 cents for these. She admired my cheek but said a dollar each and I left with about 15 of the most promising obscure ones to me. This place is going to be a gold mine she will extract records from her church friends for me one day I know it.
I had to get Skip Milo, my boys name is Milo, and well Space Walk was just too good a title to pass up even though the flip was called Hope and Pray, there was some gospel in there and was hoping this was not. The whole box was mostly black artist but I struck treasure here with some garage like rock n' roll from '59. Here is Space Walk for your listening pleasure.

Was that not fantastic? I feel a new Flung, Thrifted and Black forum comp coming soon.
Skip Milo is not so cool but has the same band backing it is a decent teen rocker though.
The rest was included stuff on King and Atlantic, Dix a billy by Lavern Baker (gotta find Voodoo Voodoo one day) a soul gospel song on Vee & Dee that tickled me.
It had started snowing and we just drove though the white mountains. I got adventurous and drove up some one lane track to find a high waterfall I've seen for the last few years but had only noticed the road going up there recently with the leaves gone from the trees. Well I found the creek that became the falls but there was no where safe to park so drove on until I got to a handmade sign saying - Redneck Road, Keep Out, Private. OK I won't argue with that.
