I like to know what are your 5 highest rated singles - where the only consideration is the music ON BOTH SIDES, using the formula (side A + side B)/2. Rarity, artwork, and nationality don't count - and it has to have been a sixties release.

Here's mine, just off the top of my head (coincidently all rare!):

1. (Enterprise) MARKSMEN - But why / Moonshine (AU)
2. (Marko) PRIMATES - Knock on my door / She (US)
3. (Orbit) KEGGS - To find out / Girl (US)
4. (Link) MOURNING REIGN - Satisfaction Guaranteed / Our fate (US)
5. (Columbia) D-COYS - Bad times / You're against (AU)

1. The Northwest Company - Hard To Cry / Get Away From It All
2. The JuJus - I'm Really Sorry / Do You Understand Me
3. The Fabs - Thats The Bag I'm In / Dinah Wants Religion
4. The Young Aristocrazy - Look And See / Don't Lie
5. The Quests - Shadows In The Night / I'm Temped
...etc...

Well, sticking with U.S. 60's garage my top 5 would be:

1. The Dovers--I Could Be Happy/People Ask Me Why
2. The Six Deep--Girl, It's Over/Now I Must Go
3. The Trolls--Walkin' Shoes/How Do You Expect Me To Trust You
4. The Squires--Going All The Way/Go Ahead
5. The Flares--Forever/I Found Out

Overall, I guess that I've always thought 2-sided winners were in the extreme minority when compared to all the thousands and thousands of 60's 45's that were released--at least for me they are. But then again, we all hear music differently so who knows--maybe I'm nuts--lol.

Thanks for your input MM. I suppose the reason I went for top 5 two-siders is that it's much easier to pick than a straight top 5 songs. I couldn't do it as I get at least 40 desperate contenders for the top 5 places.

Your choices 2-5 all rate very highly for me; but oddly' your no. 1 didn't even register. I'm going to listen to that Dovers' track again in case I missed something the first time around.

There are many, but......with this five I will be very very happy.

1- Aztex - I Said Move - The Little Streets InThis Town
2- Stoics - Enough Of What I Need - Hate
3- Es Shades - Anyday, Anywhere - Without My Love
4- Illusions - City Of People - Wait Till the Summer
5- Bad Roads - Blue Girl - Too Bad

Knaves - Leave Me Alone / The Girl I Threw Away
Rogues - It's The Same All Over The World / Oh No
Alarm Clocks - Yeah / No Reason To Complain
Zakary Thaks - Bad Girl / I Need You
Burgundy Runn - Stop! / How Far Up Is Down

Aztex - I Said Move - The Little Streets InThis Town
Burgundy Runn - Stop! / How Far Up Is Down
Es Shades - Anyday, Anywhere - Without My Love

Those would probably fit in my top 10, along with the CLIQUE - Stop, look and listen / Love me, girl.

My psych top 5:

1. Pretty: Mustache In Your Face/The Electric Hand
2. Sound Apparatus: One (Dream On)/Travel Agent Man
3. Eric Burdon & the Animals: When I Was Young/a Girl Named Sandoz
4. Children of the Mushroom: August Mademoiselle/You Can't Erase a Mirror
5 (tie). Black Narcosis: Land of Stone/Everybody's Blind
The Journey Back: Synthetic People/Run Away Baby

Subject to change by whim (except #1).

I know "Run away baby" and "Travel agent man" both of which I like, but never heard the other songs. Looks like I've got my homework cut out for me!

Not necessarily a top five, just five great double-siders off the top of my head...

Kitchen Cinq - Determination/You'll Be Sorry Someday (LHI)
Night Crawlers - You Say/Night Crawlin' (MAAD)
Lords - Death Bells At Dawn/Light Rain (Aldrich)
Hysterics - That's All She Wrote/Won't Get Far (Tottenham)
Electric Prunes - I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)/Luvin (Reprise)

Sonics - The Witch" / "Psycho"
Thirteenth Floor Elevators - "You're Gonna Miss Me" / "Tried To Hide"
Mods - "I Give You An Inch (And You Take A Mile)" / "You've Got Another Think Comin'"
Masters Apprentices - "Undecided" / 'Wars Or Hands Of Time"
Adrian Lloyd - "Lorna" / "Got A Little Woman"

Geez, this is a tuffie. Quite a (delightfully) squirrelly topic. What say a variance be granted allowing for a more regional focus to be proffered?

Follows a geographically oriented shakeout, anyone care to guess where be form? {Clam Shack parameters granted seasonal dispensation...}

g 45 Cobra's - Instant Heartache 8.jpgg 45 Shames - My World Is Upside Down 8.jpgg 45 Squires - Going All The Way 10.jpgg 45Children Of The Night - World Of Tears .jpgg 45Euphoria's Id - Deceptions Ice 8.jpg
