Trying to remember a song... not much to go on

Yeah like the title says I'm trying to remember a track from around 1966 ( I think )

From the little I can remember it starts off with a Farfisa ( I think ) and starts a kind of pulsing sound with it, pretty fast paced with a nice driving bass line. The lyrics go something like.... ( again forgive the patchiness ) and they're probably wrong in lots of places.

Well I'm a dirty on my mind, what I say
Must have come a knockin when you came my way
I didn't listen 'cause I didn't care
To foolish women and .....

Sorry, can't remember much more, really just remember the keyboard run ups. Would so appreciate if someone could help me remember the band and title

The words are completely different, but your description of the intro would match. Well, I guess you're talking about something less known...

The intro does completely match my description and thanks for posting that, I'd completely forgotten about that great song so thanks. Unfortunately it wasn't the song I was thinking of and annoyingly, I'm not sure the title of the song is mentioned in the one I'm thinking of.

Wish I could give folk more to go on as I realise it's not a great deal from my description. I know the opening lyrics are sung in a fairly deep, verging on a kind of monotone delivery.

One more try. Again the words are different and again it's a rather well known tune. And it's not a Farisa but a Vox organ. But it surely has the driving bass line. And your mention of the "fairly deep" voice, "verging on a kind of monotone delivery" made me think of this one:

Thanks again for having a try, again sorry to say it's not the song I'm thinking of but will rack my mind to try and think of anything more to go on. Very much appreciate your suggestions though.

Again it does fit with my description but sadly again, it's not my elusive, mysterious and frustrating song ! Thanks for trying, the help is much appreciated.

Oh well, we just have to throw in links to as many fast pulsating '66 organ driven garage tunes as we can think of. Do you think it was a USA group?

Good question. Another one might be: where and when did you hear it or how do you know of it? Was it something that was common in the scene in 80s/early 90s? Was it a tune you could dance to (which I somehow assumed)? Was it on one of the classic 60s garage comps? How well known do you think it is? Would every fan of the genre probably know it?

I'm fairly sure it was a group from the USA and only heard it about three years ago after doing a trawl of youtube for some new ( well, old ) songs that I might not have heard before. Definitely a tune you could dance to. I've listened to the comps of 60's garage I have and don't seem to be able to find it but again I may have overlooked it.

As for how well known it is, I think a fair few will have heard it but it's not overly common compared to something like The Haunted - 1-2-5 or Night of the sadist.

The organ is very prominent in it and there's a number of fast organ run ups as part of the chorus.

Wish I had more to give you folk to go on as I know it's a bit like finding a needle in a haystack !

Slight reprise on the lyrics:

Well I'm a dirty on my mind, what I say
Must have come a knockin when you came my way
I didn't listen 'cause I didn't care
'bout foolish women and childish dreams

Thanks Michael but still not the song I have in mind. Mike, that may be possible and wouldn't rule it out though it was very authentic sounding. Really hope it's not the case as it'd feel like I'm wasting peoples time here but do have a feeling it was a 1966 recording or thereabouts.

Good one! I've got that comp, but didn't realize that song as something special. But hearing it now it would even fit on BFTG Vol 3, I think. Your description was pretty accurate.

I think I originally heard it from the Espionage Garage podcast on itunes not like Youtube as I'd thought. I'm a sucker for any kind of organ driven song but think I listened to it to death and lost track of it. Just glad I eventually remembered and thanks again for yours and everyone else's attempts on tracking down a song without too much to go on.
