Tube amp question

I can pick up a Heathkit tube amp with what looks to be a small solid state preamp for just a few dollars. There are also plenty of extra tubes, a tube tester, and a lot of vintage ham radio and electronic equipment that I'm not sure what I'd do with. Stuff looks to be in good shape, but I have no idea if it works. There's also a manual for the amp.

Knowing very little about electronics and tubes, should I give this a try? Any recommendations for a primer on how to work with tube amps?

Beware that tube amps work at very high voltages (300-400V sometimes). Make sure you bleed out the electrolytic caps after you power down and before you touch anything. Heathkit amps have a lot of fans and there is probably a forum somewhere for support.

There is a limited market for ham radio equipment, it's a hobby nearing life support as the oldsters die out and very few young people get involved. Again, online is the place.
