The US Post Office is raising their rates on January 17th.
First Class International is going up an average of 21.6%

The average increase for a 1 lb package (like a LP) will be $5.17 (So a LP to the UK that now costs $17.95 will be around $23!)

If you use USPS Click & Ship for mailing , you will no longer get a discounted price.

Currently eBay shipping gives many sellers a Commercial Plus rate which offers a discounted price but the Post Office wants to eventually eliminate this as well.

A lousy, greedy move. Rates already jumped a couple years ago when 45s went from $7 or $8 to $13.

No discount for Click and Ship, what the hell, do they realize how much time this saves clerks and everyone on line behind you?

If they're trying to kill international shipping they're doing a good job of it. With the US economy in the doldrums, more people than ever rely on selling and shipping, it's a dick move to everyone employed that way.

This is a laugh, USPS will eliminate discounts for buying postage on their website, but still give it to people who subscribe to stamps.com and Endicia. Our government doing what it does best - making people pay corporations.

If the USPS cared about the public, they'd offer all services and savings on their own USPS site, cut out the middlemen and save all of us and the USPS some $. Ridiculous.

US International rates are subsidizing the Chinese sellers.
The Post Office loses over $1 on every package they deliver from China because of their special ePacket rate.
Check out eBay's China sellers. You can buy items (like an iPhone case) for 99 cents with FREE SHIPPING!

I say let Donald Trump buy the USPS and we'll all win!!!!!!!!! I'm tired of losers running our shit!!! Anything this govt. gets near turns to shit!!

With the new rates in effect, I just sold a 45 to the UK. The old rate was $13.70 the new rate was $13.50..

say what?!

The new rates are $13.50 for up to 8 oz.; it goes to $22.50 for over 8 oz. up to 2 Lbs.
So 2 45s would be an additional $9 shipping. A single 45 with 2 filler pads in a Bags Untld cardboard mailer weighs between 6 & 7 Oz., so an additional 45 will bump it up to the next level.

I just packed 2 regular weight 45s with 1 pad on each side and it was 6.5 oz and if I added another 45 of the same weight it came out to 7.7 oz. I've almost always been able to send 3 45s that added up to less than 8 oz. If you send 1 rare 45 and want to use extra padding it still comes in at under 8 oz. I can live with that. Sounds like you need to dump those Bags Unltd. mailers and pads.

this is beyond crazy. three years (?) ago, you could ship a 45 from the u.s. to germany for as low as $3.60 (cheapest i've ever had, average was $5.50 or $5.90), and now i'm seeing the first auctions pop up that have shipping costs of $28. fuck you, i'm done buying 45s.:flush:

I can still send 1-3 45s to Europe/Germany for $13.50. Awful but a far cry from $28.

The seller must have listed the weight on ebay as being over 8 ounces, then it goes sky high.

i've never bothered too much about postage costs, but it's really crazy. frantic, you're right about the price tag. still, i just checked 10 random 45s for postage and found rates between $10.50 and $24.50 for 1st class international shipping. people, get your shit together...

The rates are mostly set by ebay's computer. The seller plugs in the weight and the computer figures out how much the cost will be based on weight and the destination country. I know one thing, the 10s of thousands of $10-$50 45s I was going to start selling on ebay this year (most of which usually go overseas) will be staying home.

It's bad news as I often send 3 singles at a time overseas and there's no way I'll be able to get it under 8 oz.

LP shipping is jumping to about $23, though that goes for up to 2 Lbs, so you could send two LPs for that price.

2 45s under 8 oz for sure and 3 45s under 8 oz. depending on thickness of 45 and only use one piece of cardboard on each side. And it depends on the mailers you use.
