I posted this a ways back, to huge indifference I may addThis sounds familiar, so I didn't post it in the TBM thread. Clearly outsider music, but with one foot firmly in garage land.
Heitkotter LP?
I am pretty convinced this is a late 1980s / early 1990s recording with Bill Hay and some Vancounver based retro garage guys providing the backing. It is in stereo, the original tunes were not recorded in stereo. Bill Hay used to participate in several forums like the GP Hideout in the 1990s and I think this is where the clips first posted, including a redone version of "And She Said Yes".Does anyone know the story on The Painted Ship's demo or alternate version of Frustration? I've loved this song since I heard it on my first garage comp and had no idea that there was another version out there. Apparently it has appeared on Gravel Vol. 4 (?), but was it ever pressed on wax? Where did the compilers get ahold of it? Very curious about this:
Thanks, Mike. There‘s also the complete Nightcrawlers recordings, including an instrumental that has never been available before. It’s a digital-only release, however.Night Crawlers "Want Me" from the TAPE.
Anyone know the year this was released on an acetate? The droning bass makes me wonder if someone was influenced by Silver Apples. With Lenny Drake's "Love Eyes" (similar guitar) released in 1970, my guess would be 1970/71.... but that's just a guess. This sounds familiar, so I didn't post it in the TBM thread. Bloody hell that rocks10 minute plus live version of You're Gonna Miss Me by Allmen Joy in SF 67!
