YouTube Discoveries

Never massively rated the band but this rocks...

This line up of Grass Roots had nothing to do with famous one that scored many hits. That was SF band The Bedouins who under Grass Roots name recorded such a garage killers as "You're A Lonely Girl" and "Mr Jones". The band was over after first Grass Roots album.

I don't know the story behind this track, but my impression is that it was written by Pete Townshend in 1967, but only existed as a demo until it was redone in 1982. Anyway, this song is new to me as I was never really into the big bands, and was too busy listening to '60s garage to hear anything else for most of my life, but I think it's great and garagey!

Obviously not new to YouTube, or probably not to most garage collectors, but a discovery for me.

I would imagine you found this then. Strangely, this clip showed up a few years back but with the music matched to the clip in a different ( and I think better ) sequence, which is weird since I think the original videographer posted this version...oh well, still cool as hell!

I actually didn't bother listening to any other their other songs as (for some unknown reason) I assumed "I can see it" was an aberration. Listening to the full clip above just now, I can hear that their other stuff is a bit too Sargent Peppers for my taste.
