The Trampling Hum members: Warren Odze (Drums) Douglas Brett (B-3) Joey DiPietro (Vocals) Bob Brown (Bass) Barry Muroff (Guitar,Vocals) Hailing from Seaford Long Island, N.Y.

HUM was one of the few American links between psychedelia and what soon became heavy metal. While the band did record original material, they were best known for their loud, heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs, blowing them up to epic proportions and bathing them in a trippy, distorted haze. Originally, HUM was a blue-eyed soul cover band called the Trampling HUM, who formed on Long Island, NY, in 1965. Organist Douglas Brett, bassist Bob Brown, and drummer Warren ODze soon shortened their name to the HUM and added guitarist Barry Muroffl & vocalsit Joey DiPietro. They built a following by gigging extensively in Long Island,

Inspired by the Vagrants, another band on the club circuit led by future Mountain guitarist Leslie West, theHUM began to put more effort into reimagining the arrangements of their cover songs. Dion Warwick's' "Walk on By," its covers-heavy, jam-oriented debut album HUM, which gradually expanded their fan base. Things started to pick up for the band in 1968: At that time Joey left the group for College and was replaced by Bob Perrotta, the group went on to win The Battle of the Bands At Palisades Park in NJ

These guys had a real Byrds fixation and I like it! Thanks Dave B for turning me on to them!👍

The flip to the 45 Nobody home which is called Closer to you now is amazing. Check it out! I've heard the album is sort of a let down compared to that song. And I think it might be a different version on the 45 compared to the album. But that may also only be my poor memory since I only have the 45.
