60's Teen mags

The Seeds: a quick-witted quartet! Fantastic stuff. Which teen mag had the Seeds questionnaire?:sneaky:

Teen Set is a decent magazine, they are going for more moolah than most on ebay these days. The rest of those things like 16 or Tiger Beat etc. (well, maybe Flip is okay) I wouldn't waste time looking at. I can't think of any group that had an LP as quite a garage band though. The Seeds, Mysterians, Knack, Magoos, Mojo Men, Blue Things, and Shadows Of Knight are all great, so I'm not saying they aren't.

Thanks fer sharin' this stuff!

Thanks for posting these SDIII.

Some idle thoughts~

Re: Flower Pot Psych Shop
Believe the Strawberry Alarm Clock used to hang out there with the high school heads but I've been wrong before.

Re: Halloween Freak Off
Cottonball recording artists were sure well-represented on the bill. All thanks to Pat Morgan I reckon...

Re: Bido Lito's
That week seems too good to be true. Wonder if a union goon was there checking cards and ruining it?

What, there was actually a band named The Doppler Effect? That's great, I've always thought that was a good name for a psych band...
(edit: referring to the Cheetah poster)

The coolest teen-style mag for obscure garage bands has to be the Vox Teen Beat, which promoted the company's gear. The one issue I have has a center spread highlighting local dealers around the US, with lots of cool garage bands namechecked. It's undated, but is Vol. 1 #3, front has shots of the Beatles, Stones, and Raiders, so ca. early '66?

Here is the second page of the centerspread. Chocolate Watchbands (sic), Shadows Four, Guilloteens...

I've got all the Vox Teenbeat issues, and all feature a similar spread of local groups. Great stuff.
