70s Mayhem...

Cool sounds. Don't know what to make of it. Not really mayhem but interesting.

I have this...I also have the Bethlem Steele 45 and some of the others mentioned here. I told you guys back in the Garage Punk forum how collecting this genre is gonna take off, and I was right . Glad I got the Bethlem Steele 45 for $20 6-7 years ago, it's gone for $300+

Has to be this The Purple Sun with "Doomsday", if it was released in '70. His voice haunts me in my sleep.

Yikes! I need this. Shame about the ugly price tag....

Got this a few days ago, quite nice. Some hot valve intrusion but not annoyingly so. The flip, or A-side, was actually a good, snappy pop song. I will try to provide soundclips, unless someone else have them handy.
Great label design!

You did, and it did (or is about to). Only waiting for the comps to come pouring out now. Exposing new 45s but also driving up the prices.

Michigan Meltdown should kick the comp game into high gear. I've got plenty of nice 45s here that are not on anyones website.

Meanwhile....enjoy this GFRR inspired workout by Cleveland's East Wind...no studio recording of this was made, so you can only boogie here! There's another clip of them as well where they copy Three Dog Night's arrangement of "It's For You".

Sorry, but the The Brood "The Roach" is awful!
In this genre there's a really thin line between great and the worst of things to happen to good 60s rock'n'roll.

Haha I think this "genre" is probably 99% awful. I have Macabre - Be Forwarned on 45 and that's still the only one I've heard that I think is utterly devastating and great. That song about food for example... should be a worthy contender for another Only in America comp on Arfarf. Makes me think of Endless Pulse - Nowhere Chick, but even tackier. A friend of mine who shall remain anonymous has been 'collecting' these kinda 45s for years - when they were a coupla dollars tops - and he's been taping the best stuff for me. Out of for example 40 songs I like maybe 2. Overblown, Doors influenced, Zep influenced, Purple influenced... etc. It's just bad hardrock. I'm flabbergasted. Come on, twin leads playing harmony... that's about as tacky as music will ever get. All this in my opinion, of course
I've already ordered that Michigan Meltdown compilation, hoping to get proven wrong on that one at least
But I dig the Estes Bros non LP 45 and I think Gold - No Parking(from '69 tho) is pretty great aswell

This is very true, sound clips are of the essence. And there's so many people who think the chaff is good. Can't trust anyone. Almost. I mainly trust me:)

I think the Estes 45 is pure genius and as good as the Macabre. Gold is rubbing me a bit the wrong way, mostly the vocals and tempo changes.

Anyone seen/have a scan of the Estes picture sleeve that supposedly exists?

True. "Be Forwarned" is still the one to be measured by.
"No Parking" is one of my faves on the heavy45s blog. Great how it gets harder and faster all the time.
What do you think of this? I actually just found out about The Bintangs and I think they're a great Stones influenced Flamin Groovies sounding combo (not this song). The video is strange, and it gets even stranger towards the end:

I used to have that Bintangs 45. I kinda like it a lot but at the same time I don't like the flute... (there is flute on it right? My attention span is way too short for me to listen to the whole song...)Anyway I sold it and have never regretted it. Maybe it went in a trade that got me Trojans Of Evol - Through The Night. Trojans Of Evol is a million times better in my book :)

You should have done more drugs. But you've got somewhat of a point - I get the same migraine that I get from too much low-brow glam-punk that was all the rage some 10 years ago.
What is wrong with overblown, dude...don't knock the overblown man..
And influenced by the bands you named...ech, come on..I like cheese. And that track Hoss upped is HYSTERICAL! But there's a time and a place for everything. Or - as I learnt before I tripped - setting is everything. Wave your freakflag. Man you got me all upset! Love you, tho. ;)

Kinds cool but not very convincing. He is clearly out of his element with this kind of guitar playing. Some people got it and some people don't. It's interesting to hear him struggle with the style though. On the other hand, he delivers the dreaded "white blues shouter" thing pretty well. Thanks for posting it, I'd never heard this stuff, just the earlier band. Billy or somebody was saying there was maybe an acetate or something of the Castilles?

The Castiles acetate is great, two sided jangle monsters, one side is extra "punky".
Last copy sold was one given to a friend by Bruce shortly after it was recorded, sold for just under 10 grand.
