Greetings to all who have purchased a copy of TeenBeat Mayhem! I wanted to express my gratitude and let everyone know what I've been working on diligently, ever since that book officially hit the streets back in October, 2012 - the official announced publication date.

First, TeenBeat Mayhem! is available, while they last...the supply is certainly dwindling away. Don't listen to anyone who hypes the book as out-of-print while attempting to extort / gouge your wallet via a price well above & beyond the original retail sticker price! The retail price has been lowered - You can buy from my webpage: www.pricelessinfopress.com
or head on over to the Ugly Things webstore. I also sell them on ebay from time to time as well.

The big complaint I've received, by far, is the extremely high price of shipping the book from here in the USA. As the book is hardcover, and 400 pages, it is far too heavy to qualify for a low rate of first class airmail shipping. If you reside overseas (Europe, Far East, Australia) and do not want to pay the base $33.40 for shipping one book, head over to:

Clearspot, based in Holland, distributes copies of TeenBeat Mayhem! and shipping costs should be a lot less.

People have asked about a 2nd edition. There will not be a new edition of TeenBeat Mayhem!. The market simply isn't there to support a new, and even larger sized book.

However, I have always planned a supplement edition. Here is what you can expect:

*Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem! will be a softcover, spiral / wire comb binding book (so you can have the book lay flat / open while you read thru the pages).

*It will contain all new discoveries and additional 45s I was not able to fit in the big book.

* A full list of corrections (targeting typos, new confirmed locales, release dates, etc for 45s listed in TeenBeat mayhem! Diehards, geeks and completists will easily be able to mark their copy of the big book using the corrections chapter.

*The entire Top 15,000 + listing of U.S Garage Songs, in ranked order, will be shown and cross-referenced via an A to Z song titles listing. This includes all new discoveries on 45 and acetates, as well as songs which appear as unrated in TeenBeat Mayhem!

*The vote tally breakdown for every rated A and B side which appears in both TeenBeat Mayhem! and the supplement book. This will allow the reader to see how the song fared via the voting cabinet member sessions which continue to take place for the ratings.

* A separate A to Z listing of Non-U.S. groups & performers with releases on American manufactured / distributed record labels. This will hopefully please those readers who wished for some sort of an International discography. It won't be anything near all-encompassing, but instead, a selected discography profiling the obscure / non-hit 45s by non U.S groups (Canada, Europe, Australia Far East...).

The book will be geared to the fanatics / collector's sect, and as such , will be very limited, unlike TeenBeat Mayhem! press run. Softcover will allow a much cheaper cost for shipping. Page count has yet to be determined, but it will not run over 200 pages at most.. No color, very few pix or label scans. A bare-bones, all info supplement, similar to publications created during the pre-internet era, guaranteed to be the final word on TeenBeat Mayhem!
Date for publication: November 2014.

I thank each and every one of you who wrote to me or posted on the G45 forum with a suggestion, correction, addition, or complaint regarding Teenbeat Mayhem!.
Feel free to ask any questions regarding Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem.

What if you're also a "mint" freak?:boggle:

Mike, Thanks for putting together such an awesome book. Can't wait for the Beyond.
Do you have plans of creating a website or a searchable web database with all the information?

Here's an update on the progress of Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem (Please - do not summarize or repost my comments elsewhere on-line - this post is for G45 members only. Thank you kindly.

Due to unforscene setbacks and interferences (not all of them good) my target date for the end of 2014 will not be met. However, I am working as diligent as I can given my circumstances. One of which has forced me to severely cut back on "computer screen / on-line time" spent each day. Without going into detail, I need to "restrict" my eyesight and therefore, the screen time usage is paramount for completion of Beyond Teenbeat Mayhem. That is why you don't / won't find me contributing on-line - here, the annoying Facebook, and other places where people virtually frolic.

That stated, please continue to post corrections and additions. I am also processing a massive A to Z file of corrections and additions to existing TBM listings, sent by my most diligent archivist and collector pal. Another song rating session will soon commence, so if you participated int he last round, I'll be contacting you again shortly.

As for a website publication database, well, I won't be alive long enough to get that completed. I've spent nearly 30 years doing the research / writing / collating thing. Any time I have after this, I would only spend helping Mark with the G45 website. Perhaps we can add a weekly newsprint column type feature to engage active participation, i wouldn't mind doing that. My point is, I want some time to for myself, to play my 45s, which I rarely do now and just enjoy the sounds on my own terms.

Lastly - to reduce my stock of TBM and prepare for the limited print run of Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem, I am offering potential buyers the opportunity to purchase a copy of the book for the low, holiday season price of $50. This is the lowest price I have offered or can offer - it won't ever be priced any lower.

You can purchase it as a buy it now on ebay. I will continue to run the listing from now until the end of the year. So if you held off on buying one, or desire to give a cool gift to a like-minded 60s garage fanatic, here is your chance. As I've stated before, there will not be a revised / updated edition of the book. Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem is the supplement edition created solely for the fanatics and diehards, containing only corrections, additions and some other features that couldn't appear in the proper book.

Regarding publication of Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem, early 2015 is a realistic and obtainable target date.

Having a limited income due to my forced retirement I too had put off buying my copy of TBM. But $50 with free shipping is way too good a deal to pass up!

I posted the eBay link to a couple of message boards earlier this afternoon and see about a half-dozen sold in that time. Hope it helps...

Can't wait for the update... Having all this info at ones fingertips just makes me feel so comfortable.

Just found this 45 by the Glory Rhodes and noticed a different record # on label that is in TBM. Can anyone verify that there are not two releases? Below is scan of my 45.glory rhodes atco 6559.jpg

Hello, folks!

Working on the front and back cover roughs (as well as the detailed to the max innards).
Full color, front and back. Softcover this time, so people won't get screwed on postage costs overseas.

I am hoping to include a cool group shot that hasn't really been widely circulated, if possible. I do not have a photo that is befitting, so I'd like to solicit some help. If a photo doesn't work for the cover I can always use it inside the book, if you are so willing.

I would prefer to feature a group listed inside on the front cover, but there's no way for anyone to know prior to publication as to who is listed, with all of the new additions and the amended entries from TBM. Anyone with some pics, drop me a line if you have a list handy.

I don't have a list of groups, Mike, but I have some cool color snapshots that might be befitting. I don't know if any are of the groups in the updated volume, however.
