Foolish People: clueless ebay record sellers

Trouble is you never know with these fellas . After been burned as the first buyer of the Shadows 5 from Shootingstarsrecords , I was wary when he posted a m- copy of the Hustlers on Orlyn . So I bid low-ish , lost , and of course it was the only copy he has listed up till now.....

Hard to find, yes. But not released? I have a stock copy. Very easy to check 45cat or so. It's not a surf 45 either just cause its the Surfaris. It's garage. Great disc well worth round $50.

That reminds me of an excuse Jacopo the Wild Italian Teenage Caveman gave a friend. My friend bought a Turkish LP that Jacopo called Mint. When it arrived, it was pretty toasted. Jacopo's explanation was that was what the Mint grade in Turkey was.

Has anyone else here had problems with Barry Wickham? Some years ago I ordered a fairly inexpensive 45 and he wanted to charge me something like $9. for insurance so I politely declined. Now he says he won't sell to me because he has had problems with me in the past. Is he that difficult with everyone?

I would think $9 includes the insurance cost for a $20-$30 45, not out of line.
The days of cheap postage rates are long gone.
It costs around $12-14 to send one 45rpm disc across the USA via priority mail. I just mailed one to New York, maybe 100 miles from my house, and it cost $6.50 uninsured.
I would never opt for a cheap cost, media mail transport in the USA for records. I've witnessed the sorting methods first-hand in a postal distribution center. Even for 1st class packages are subject to potential damage. I'm amazed parcels usually arrive to their destinations intact. I've seen some mashed up/ dinged / crushed parcels make their way from the cross-dock after being sorted and processed.
Priority mail parcels (small size) are not sorted with 1st class, media mail or parcel post packages and tend to be hand-sorted.

I buy a lot of records from Craig Moerer and have never had a problem. He charges a lot less for postage.

But I was not saying his charge was fair or unfair. At one point about 3 or 4 years ago I decided not to pay the insurance as I felt it was kind of high for a $20 record. So for that reason alone he has decided never to sell to me again. That fact alone makes me think he may be a little bit too tempramental and hard to deal with for my tastes.

In regards to Mr. Jeffs comments, It is actually my wife who handles the on line sales on Discogs and Music stack. She is very nice to our customers and pleasant to deal with. If someone cancels an order for some reason, she replies "thank you" and moves on. She says "people have their reasons", no big deal. If, however, the customer is rude and demanding, she then blocks the customer as she doesn't need the headache and doesn't appreciate someone telling her how to run the business. This, apparently, was the case with Mr. Jeffs. She keeps great notes regarding problem customers. She's much more organized than I am, thank goodness. ..And thanks for all the the supportive comments, we really appreciate it !
