You Know I Do - The Crucibles

I know a girl who stays in both day and night
And I know why this girl stays in, and I don’t think it’s right
And if you say you don’t love me, I’ll go to her today
Yes, yes girl if you don’t love me, I’ll leave you right away
But I don’t want to deceive you, there is no other girl
And I don’t want to leave you, I need you that’s for sure, you know I do.

I saw you with that other guy just the other night
I saw you kissing him goodbye, it broke my heart that night
But I’ll forgive if you’ll be true and mend my broken heart
and everything will be alright just like at the start
But I don’t want to deceive you, there is no other girl
And I don’t want to leave you, I need you that’s for sure, you know I do.

Little Boy Blues - The Great Train Robbery

well, here comes the great big train
rolling towards me fast
run around that great big train
if my heartbeat will last

robbing trains it ain't passe
I feel her vibrations on the ground
this train is heavy cause she weighs
more than two million pounds

yeah
train train
don't go away
I'd get caught another day

she's driving and she's sliding in snow
my mates are running close behind
our van is at the bridge below
yeah I'd like to run but there's no place to hide

hit while the iron is hot
yeah leave the dazed engineers behind
there's another sack that's a lot
this is one haul of a find

yeah
train train
don't go away
I took your money I can't stay

jail is lonely jail is cold
thirty years is like a century
I'll be dead before I'm old
unless someone sets me free

there is nothing like the thirst
for freedom when you ain't got anymore
double-eyed and that's my curse
you know I should have thought of that before

yeah
train train
I don't care
I'll give it back
just to be free

I did research on the robbery to figure out the lyrics. For example, "weighs more than two million pounds" is actually a reference to the £2.6 million English pounds sterling.

I always heard

"here comes the gravy train."
On one of the first lines.
And it's meaning fits the robbery perfectly. -
a position in which a person or group receives excessive and unjustified money or advantages with little or no effort)

Blowing every tourist in fast. ??

Train train don't go away
I cant come another day?

You fixed a few really badly misheard lyrics on this one.

I also hear "gravy train" in every instance, as well as "I can't come another day".

Other differences:

"she's drivin' and she's ridin' in slow" It could be "slidin' in snow", but that makes no sense to me.

"yeah and leave the dazed engineers behind"

"this is one marvel of a find"

"double island" (maybe?)

The lyrics are very carefully constructed, and necessarily condensed, based on accounts of the 1963 robbery. I haven't been able to find the very detailed primary article that I used in my attempt to discern the lyrics a decade ago. Here's what I recollect.

"she's driving and she's sliding in snow
my mates are running close behind
our van is at the bridge below
yeah I'd like to run but there's no place to hide"

As I recall, this section refers to the narrator's vehicle driving to the remote crossing in the ice and snow, being followed by his mates in their vehicles. They were getting there in advance of the train to sabotage the switch signal and lie in wait.

There are several lines (and perhaps the article) that indicate a feeling of paranoia and anxiety. Along with "if my heartbeat will last", "I'd like to run but there's no place to hide", so "I'd get caught another day" continues this motif. Lying in wait can foster those feelings.

"yeah leave the dazed engineers behind" They struck one engineer so hard with an iron bar that it caused brain damage.

"This is one haul of a find" There were 120 bags of mail taken that were very heavy and took considerable time and effort to 'fire brigade' down to the van.

"double-eyed" is English slang that was used by an interviewed robber. It refers to being insightful and introspective.

If "gravy train" is the consensus, I can accept that. I suppose I may have been influenced by the title ("great train robbery") into hearing "great big train". [Does "gravy train" sound like a dog food commercial?]

Thanks, guys, for your feedback and discussion.

The "snow" line is probably a wrong one, as the robbery happened in August when it is summer in UK.
So I'd say it's "riding in slow" is correct. Especially as the robbers "mates" are running behind.

And yes gravy train is a US dog food brand.

First chorus has to be.

Train train don't go away
I cant come back another day.

Which is based around british? kids nursery rhyme -

Rain rain go away
Come back another day

It's a real cracker of a song.

The Fuzztones have the lyrics for "We're Pretty Quick" up on their site. I'm not sure if they're 100% accurate, but here they are:

Are you sure, don't tell lies
You got love, the affectionate lie
Run away tomorrow, I don't think she'll know
I mean to tell you that you'll never come back, no
That leads us to derive

We're pretty quick as a matter of fact
We're pretty quick as a matter of fact
We're pretty quick as a matter of fact

Give it to me, your love
You're the one I know that can't get off, you will
Put your love in a bag and swing it 'round your head
Wrap your legs around my head, baby, we're all set

We're pretty quick as a matter of fact
We're pretty quick as a matter of fact
We're pretty quick as a matter of fact

SOLO

I see by the clock that it's time on the wall
You know I'm laying here baby and I'm ready to you!
Oh, how do you know what it is or isn't my tale?
if you're pretty good, baby, do the trick
get on your knees, baby, that's my pick

We're pretty quick as a matter of fact
We're pretty quick as a matter of fact
We're pretty quick as a matter of fact
Not bad, but several lines are wrong.

The final verse in this great song sounds to me like the Boys are referring to 'Devil Island that's Parkhurst'

Parkhurst was a high security prison on the Isle of Wight to where some of the robbers were transferred in 1966.

FLOWER GRAVE THE HUMAN BEINZ
This song is one of my all time favorites yet I can't figure out the lyrics especially the last verse. Anyone can clear this up? Help much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

See colors of places not right
here comes a beautiful night
you love me I can not deny
you took my love and said goodbye
try, think of yourself and not I
I won't shed tears I won't cry
forgive me I won't make you stay
loved, loved you with passion and pride
then I came and took you away
leave the flowers you send on my grave
I''ll hide myself back in the night
no good is love nor is the pain
that's plain when flowers fell down on my grave

Decipherment was made more difficult by the fact that the neighbour's dog wouldn't stop barking, and I only had a YouTube video of dubious quality for reference. Here's what I could make out from the last two verses. (Nice song, by the way, which I didn't know.)

Loved, loved you with passion and pride
The night came and took you away
Leaving flowers instead on my grave

I won’t find myself back in the night
No good is my blood, is the pain
that’s made when flowers spelled (spilled?) out my grave

Thanks Daniel I still have my doubts about the lyrics. I have slowed down the song and used multiple effects however to no avail. By the way throw that dog a bone:lol:

Anyone else willing to give it a try?

TRAVEL AGENCY: Jailbait

(typed lyrics provided to buyers of recent quantity):

Hey little girl layin' there in the grass
you oughten' ought to do that
it's bad for your back
Now I know girl, just what you want
to caress and to kiss me all through the night
But you're not gonna get me into your trap
cause I know girl, just what you are

(Jail Bait)

Bringin' forth your lovin is all right by me
but when you say you love me
it's not gonna be
Someone's gonna teach you a lesson to learn
show you girl what you're doin' to me
Now I'm gonna take you out I know
show you girl, the world to be

(Jail Bait)

Girl now you got me, hope you're satisfied
I gave you all my lovin' that I had inside
Now we got our problems, it's too bad for me
I should have known better than to caress you
I went and fell into your little trap
It's all my fault girl, I knew what you were

(Jail Bait)
