Hey kids! Collect The Whole Set!

The MC5 wasn't really on A2 anyway - manager John Sinclair used the A2 name with a new label design without permission. But it's still a great 45, 'Looking At You' is worthy.

But you are missing the blue label version of A2 101.

I didn't know that (John Sinclair). Is the blue label version different in any way from the yellow, besides color? I like the MC5. And the Stooges. I have most of their records, but I must admit it was fun tearing them apart on the old Stooge-struck garagepunk board.

Star-Bright was from a small town on the Southern Oregon Coast. Pretty close to California, but in Oregon, nonetheless.

You & I are missing:

Star-Bright 3053 - Bruce - I Got My Mojo Workin'/La-La-La

Which I have never seen much less heard. It may be a novelty record.
There's also 3057- Thornbush Ripple IV - Room with a Crew pts 1 & 2. I haven't heard it.

A Quality selection from Canada.

What does The Dril "Sun is black" sound like? Was not aware of this title.

The blue label Rationals is the first pressing, then A2 used red labels for "Feelin' Lost". Yellow labels for early A2 numbers were re-pressings. There is no difference sound-wise, only the label colors.

Re the Bill Rase 45s, I have pulled out the following ES series 45s

Liberty Lads
Johnny & The Rivieras
The Night
Children Of Stone
Coachmen
Living End
Opposite Six
Don Wright & The Head Set
Hustlers
Kee-Notes

I might have others, but I'm not sure what they may be.
Also, Golden State Records. I can only find 4 (Zorba & Greeks, Donnybrookes, Poor Souls, Gold). Are there any others?

I also have
the Pound Sterling 45 which is ES - 133/134
Insurgents ES 117/118

One I don't have:
St. George & the Dragons ES 131/132

Also, Golden State Records. I can only find 4 (Zorba & Greeks, Donnybrookes, Poor Souls, Gold). Are there any others?
CUSTER & THE SURVIVORS I Saw Her Walking / Flapjacks (Golden State 657) (Vardan 202) (Ascot 2207)

Didn't include the MC5 Borderline, due to it's high energy/progrock sound.

This one makes the cut for me, as does Looking At You. Less keen on Borderline, the rot had already set in by that time. Well, for me at any rate.

The ad is scanned from Creem Vol.2 /#1. Sold my black label copy, which the advert is for, ages back.

I have the Bruce 45 on Star-Bright, it's the Niteriders using the name of one of the members. I have 6 Star-Bright 45s...

Hideout - The Punch label and the Beach Bums "Yellow Beret" are to be included. If you really want to be hardcore, add the Doug Brown and Omens flexi. I'm missing that and the Bottle Company - by far the rarest Hideout 45 - for a complete run. I spent years looking for the phantom Yorkshires 45 on Hideout finally concluding it never came out.

Mel Davis on Golden State is a killer boogaloo funk 45 - I'll be happy to trade both Zobras and Donnybrookes for one....

And its not the same guy as Melvin Davis from Detroit

I sold a mint MEL DAVIS for $1200 last year.

I found a ++ copy of Mel Davis , it was in the stacks of the Record Man. When I was going out with the, um, stressful girl in the bay area circa 2004, she'd drop me off so I could go thru the Record Man's 45 boxes.

When I told a few soul guys I had the record, I started getting offers of $25, $75, $100 then up to $500. I knew that the offers I was getting were lowball, and some funk 45 kingpin guys were furrowing their brows at a grand / 1K takes it (nice to be able to stonewall guys who are beyond desperate for a 45 but do not want to pay the price they themselves would sell it for - and not a dollar less, at that)!

I eventually dealt it along with a handful of other sought-after soul 45s to obtain a near mint Psychotrons "Death Is A Dream".

Yeah great 2 sider! My copy is autographed but only with first names...anyone find the guys in the group yet?
I have all their names, I found out they were from Roseville, Ca. But I could never find them. It's the only band that I had all the names for that I couldn't find one single guy. Should try again, it's been about a year.

Here's what I have from the the Bill Rase series. Mostly via Joey D, when he sold the 45s he collected during his research into The Sound Of Young Sacramento CD. Very colourful bunch, and several standouts (Liberty Lads, Opposite Six, Hustlers, Reflections, Coachmen, Kee-Notes)

I wouldn't bother looking out for it. It's an unusual melodic bluesy pop tune with Everly Brothers style vocal harmony, harmonica bass and drums, but instead of a guitar it has a bassoon:konfuzed:. I wouldn't call it garage by any means, but I still like it.
