How Unknown Can You Go?

Hey guys, I wouldn't mind releasing a cd of the best tracks on Frantic, maybe called something like The G45 Challenge: Unknown and unreleased Garage. That's if we can get at least 20 tracks together. Only the good ones though. And maybe we can have a contest for designing the best cover, with 10 free cds as the prize or maybe Mark giving up another one of those yellow & black beauties. Just a thought. And it wouldn't even be a kickstarter, i'll pay for it..ha!

great idea, count me in!

Just a quick question regarding the other thread containing ratings...

I could have sworn that someone else identified the first track that I posted - but as of right now, it shows MTM as the only one to identify it. Did I miss something somewhere?

Buckeyebeat pulled out and asked for his ratings to be removed.

I don't care either way, I just think people misunderstood the rules when they didn't rate their ID'd tracks. (I did) A guy like OUTSIDE LOOKIN IN who is in the running who has around 3 unrated ID'd tracks should be able to get his ID'd tracks rated so it would give him more points. And not just him, there are others who have unrated tracks too. Hey, I'd like to win this things as much as the next guy but the rules should apply for everyone. So by your clarification I think everyone who ID'd a song should be able to go back and rate their ID's so those members can score more points. I don't have any ID's so it won't effect me either way, I'm just looking out for other members. :)
True, otherwise some people may feel like there's some kind of vendetta against them. In fact, I'd go further and say that anyone who has only rated the songs of some entrants, but not all entrants, or all the songs of a given entrant, should ultimately have ALL of their scores discounted, otherwise it could also be seen as a bias. In the end, anyone who has rated (or ID'd) one song, will need to have rated every song of every entrant, or have their ratings removed.

Damn...That's what I thought and didn't have the balls to say. But I gotta give that a big SECOND!!!:yikes:

I think the contest should have stated in the rules that the votes should not be made public - vote via a poll, or private ballot.
Displaying vote results while the contest is taking place, it is easy for someone later on to vote based upon shown results - say, if Joey D is ahead of Don julio, and I don't / do want him to win, so I could fudge my votes downward, or upward. Whereas a blind vote tells me or anyone else nothing until results are posted.
The only thing to be alerted would be the ID notice for any track submitted.
But it's all h2o under the bridge!

I agree 100%. After all, my Ronnie Reagan Icon alone should yield me at least -1 for each of my listings:yup:

So what about our remaining songs, could we send them to the Boss then he put's them all in a big pot and people rate them and then on the 31st day he adds them to each member's batch? Wouldn't work for the guys who submitted their songs to quick but then that wasn't the best strategy to begin with.

I honestly don't think anyone would fudge a vote. Lying to yourself and to everyone else in public about your taste in '60s garage music would be far too high a price for anyone here to pay.

No it doesn't really work that way. As long as he has good average ratings from the people who didn't ID the track, he would not be worse off.

By all means, anyone who ID'd a track but did not send in a rating for whatever reason, is encouraged to send in the rating any time before the end of the contest.
An entrant's average rating could easily be skewed if a judge only selectively rated songs. That's because not everyone has exactly the same taste in music, or uses the 1-10 scale in exactly the same manner.
