I think the contest should have stated in the rules that the votes should not be made public - vote via a poll, or private ballot.
Displaying vote results while the contest is taking place, it is easy for someone later on to vote based upon shown results - say, if Joey D is ahead of Don julio, and I don't / do want him to win, so I could fudge my votes downward, or upward. Whereas a blind vote tells me or anyone else nothing until results are posted.
The only thing to be alerted would be the ID notice for any track submitted.
