Joey - we're waiting

It seems as if a good 80-90% of releases by Ace Records are currently by soul artists, so I don't see anything happening anytime soon. If the well for '60s garage music hasn't dried up, the audience likely has; otherwise, I'm sure Joey would release the CDs on his Frantic label. It's a money-losing venture at this point.

But it's strange because it's harder than ever to win original 45 auctions due to intense competition at the high end of 60s garage collecting.

Examples I missed recently due to higher than anticipated competing bids :

As Sky Saxon used to say: "Excuse, Excuse"...

The Es-Shades has been in the $ 1500 range for awhile , I know some guys who are still looking for it . BTW "monster organ-infused 1967 California proto-punk garage tracks with great vocals" is not exactly the description I would choose for the Velvets.....

Collectors of original pressings aside, if you can get music for free on the 'net, why bother paying for it?

The way things are going, we might not have the Internet (as we know it) for much longer...and digital music
tends to sound like shite coming out of tiny computer speakers or cheap-o earbuds...compared to having a decent power amp and pro-audio speakers and/or headphones. A lot of folks have never heard how good
even a cheap styrene 45 can sound when played over a quality system so they just don't know or care.

We've gone full circle. The majority of people want their music totally portable and with the smallest possible object on their person to play the music. Sound quality is no longer a factor, just like during the earliest days of bootleg comps.

Yep, a no-free internet is surely a guarantee if the wrong person gets elected in two weeks.

Any interest in selling the CDs only to Forum members? They're already pressed, and at least you can recoup some of your investment. Or do you plan on eventually printing the booklets?

I'd pay $20 per CD, no booklet or jewel case...

The least I can do is list the track listings for each cd. Luv's So Free covers Sacto. psych type tracks 1967-1972. And Capitol's Gone Rockin' covers early Sacto. rockabilly, surf, teen, garage from 1957-1966. Kind of a Best Of The Rest of Sacramento.
