An "old-time ground floor" fanzine/magazine addict's take (reasoning included):
1) Kicks - Pure rock & roll evangelism (with no hippies allowed!)
2) Ugly Things - The best writers and research on the planet (w/only "cool" hippies included)
3) Who Put The Bomp - Ground zero, and the benchmark for all (with a sincere love of the music)
4) Black To Comm - Punk rock journalism at its very best
5) Future - The wild wacky world of 'true believer' Greg Prevost (killer humor and interviews)
6) Discoveries - Some of the best writers and columnists...and killer ads always!
7) Mojo/Shindig - For the photos alone!
8) New York Rocker - Full and astute coverage of NYC punk scene (and its diaspora)
9) Bam Balam - The best of the U.K. mags...featuring all my favourites (w/full and astute 'Paisley Underground' coverage)
10) Insert your friend's cool fanzine here (I chose Pyg Track...Colin Hill's U.K. Blue Cheer fanboy microzine)
Honourable mention: Records - Little magazine showcasing the warped record collector mind of Chris Peake (savant-land)
