BTW, I just upgraded my system with a new TT, preamp and speakers so I can listen the my vinyl records properly, including my latest platter, The Knight Raiders.

For the past week it's been snowing on and off here in my beloved Virginia. In between plowing my 1/2 mile gravel driveway (thank you, Kubota) and keeping the birds and animals fed and watered, I took the opportunity to make a rather rudimentary YouTube video on my iPhone featuring the the two digital transfers of the Knight Raiders songs by our own Mr. Bosshoss. The same digital files that were used to press the recently released 45 vinyl record, currently for sale here and on eBay, while supplies last.

So, if you find yourself with some down time and nothing to do, why not take a look at the video and tell me what you think....or not, your choice.

Old Dog...New Trick!

Well, I just learned about a new tool for mailing media, thanks to long-time member Rich Strauss. That tool is called -MEDIA MAIL! What? That's crazy! Who knew? And despite my many trips to the post office to mail off the Knight Raiders limited-release 45 rpm record, featuring "Hang It Up" and "Love Without Words," not once did anyone mention this budget method for mailing media. For example, I just mailed off a few records to Mr. Strauss in California, which is over 2,800 miles from me in Virginia, for the low, low postage fee of $4.00. That's right, a measly four bucks! And if that's not enough, I can ship up to five records in a single package for one low shipping charge. Makes me head spin!

So, yanks...what are you waiting for? If you live in the USA and are procrastinating a record purchase because of the shipping fees, procrastinate no more. Buy one today! They won't last forever! To purchase a record or two, go to eBay via the link in post #184 above to buy a disk or two.

This week I received a large package of Knight Raiders 45s sent to me by Steve (TJ Coro). I have sufficient stock to cover all the copies ordered by Australian buyers so far, and I have plenty more to send out for future orders. Steve is handling the worldwide sales including Australia and NZ, but I am sending the 45s to addresses within those two countries, once Steve gives me the word that the order is ready to go. This setup should work well because there is stock ready now for quick delivery, at local postage rates, saving quite a lot of waiting time and money for any buyers located in Australia or New Zealand.

My copy arrived a few weeks ago, but my turntable has been out of action until yesterday. The Knight Raiders was the first disc to feel the needle drop. Mighty good! Thanks, Steve and Mark.

Wow! ...talk about being outta the loop... I'm just learning about the vinyl release of the Knight Raiders tracks today, a rainy saturday afternoon here in the US northeast. Incredibly happy to hear that this worked out! Congrads to Mark and Steve and everyone else involved in bringing this essential piece of the garage rock/teenbeat/60's punk puzzle "back from the grave"!

TJ/Steve, i been heavily weighted down with family drama and college school work for around the last 2.5 years and i believe it was about 2.5 years ago when we first got in touch, right? So yeh, talk about awkward timing for our meeting each other, ha, but hey it looks like everything worked out no matter what.

I'm gona be in the DMV (for all you overseas folks, that's the DelMarVa region aka the US mid-Atlantic coast) area for Easter weekend. Are these records out at shops in that area Steve? If not, do you need hints on where to try and stock them? Offhand, i can think of 3 different spots (including one in the Leesburg/Sterling, Va. area) that can definitely stock them for you, especially if you mention my involvement in the release.

And of course, i'd be willing to try and sell a few for you. Several of my own music projects have a small but steady following so i could sell them at gigs or even just try and sell them via mail order.

I will make sure to check back here over the next couple days, so Steve please feel free to reply in this thread about all this or you can email me or d.m. me here, whatever you feel like.

Again, sorry for the late response, but (as the young'uns like to say), I been "goin thru it", so dont misinterpret my lack of communication as apathy, i am 100% STOKED to see that The Knight Raiders are finally getting their just desserts :-)

Hey Mike, I was beginning to wonder if we'd ever hear from you again. I couldn't be happier that you finally checked in. For the record, I found your thread regarding Edgewood Studios and the KR acetate on June 21, 2022, so it's been almost two years since this journey began. And what a journey it's been. From writing several chapters in this thread on all my memories of the band (which I may publish sometime) to the production of the very cool 45 disk. Thanks to you for getting the ball rolling and to Mark, the Bosshoss and others on this forum for inspiring me to get 'er done.

The KR Project, as I like to call it, took life when you, Mark and other forum members encouraged me to share my memories of the band. The KR project gained speed when Bosshoss offered to transfer the acetate to digital files and exploded when our friend, Leonard Schwab, agreed to loan us his pristine acetate, which he later sold to Mark. Mark did a masterful job making a WAV file which was used in the pressing of the 45 disk. Mark designed the record cover and label and held my hand through the process of selecting a company to press the record. We finally settled on Cascade Record Pressing, located in Portland, Oregon. They did a great job and worked very closely with us. Me? Well, I wrote the liner notes and played the drums. The result was a stunning 45 record of the Knight Raiders two songs recorded in 1967 - Hang it up and Love Without Words.

There are still copies available for sale. Copies can be purchased through me via PM or on eBay via the link in post #193 above. Shipping within the US has averaged between 4 and 5 dollars. For those down under, Mark will ship from his inventory of records for $5. For all other international sales, I will calculate shipping before you commit to a purchase. Oh, and if you live in the UK, there is one extra copy in Coventry which will be shipped at local shipping rates. Just let me know if you are interested. BTW, all records purchased on GS45Central Forums will include a WAV file of the two songs.

Sounds like a plan Steve. I basically have two days free next weekend to swing thru NoVa, i'll DM you about that in a second. But yeh, so stoked to see Len's name here, in many ways he really was the one who kicked it all off by just being the most ultra hip DMV scenester and by having the foresight to hold on to your super obscure awesome demo for nearly 60 years
 
Attn. US garage fiends: The Knight Raiders 7" 45 rpm single, mastered and produced by Mark "Boss Hoss" Taylor is now available at DIG! Records in Leesburg, Virginia (that's northern Va., not far from DC and Frederick, Md.)
 
Up now on my personal Wordpress site, There's now a big long blog piece all about the genesis of the Knight Raiders 45 complete with a quote from Boss Hoss.

For long time forum members none of this should contain any news for you, but it might be fun as a way to get a "birds eye" view of the bigger chain of events that gave birth to this killer disc's much deserved/long overdue vinyl release.
