Howdy!
Some recent pickings from the world wide web
I like this. Some may perhaps find it cheesy but I think it's got a tough enough attitude to warrant my attention.
Primitive and you just got to love the naiveté of picture sleeves lie this. I do. Muchly. This is a quantity find, yes?
What a band! Surely one of the most undeservedly ignored bands of it's genre & worthy of a compilation! They must have had someone believing in them, it seems like a lot of money was invested in their 45s (bar the 1st one perhaps) Stellar production, 2 picture sleeves and professional ones at that. One of my new favorite bands, thanks goes out to Colin for making us infidels aware of such forgotten greatness.
Including the flip sleeve for the non-collecting music lovers out there.
This song is so incredibly good! Sticker a charming bonus.
Finally got a copy of the first pressing of this. Was not even aware of it being the first press of the world's perhaps greatest song until MTM posted a scan of it. Big, manly bear hug goes out to you!

Hard to find a clean copy. Even this plays with some interference at the high notes.
Re-bought a 45 I regretted selling. This time a really clean copy, a sonic treat from one of my favorite UK beat bands. Ignorant f as I am had not noticed this Immediate company sleeve design either until recently.
And speaking of favorite UK beat. The Yardbirds were my gateway into both UK beat, upping my spending money on rare records and also led to the additional discovery of what some of us like to call freakbeat (not that the Yardbirds were freakbeat). I remember some almost 20 years ago when I blew the remainder of that month's food budget at a record fair because I bought the Swedish Yardbirds lp with the famous full band shot:
My girlfriend, later to become wife, mother of my oldest daughter, even later ex-wife, sat at home waiting for me because I had all our money with me. I freaked out because I had used all of it, got drunk, lost the house keys & somehow made up for it. But the lp was mine! Later sold to a mad Italian collector.
But I digress.
For your love might possibly be amongst my top 5 tunes
. Now I'm trying to complete my Yardbirds UK 45s and just recently picked this up at a very reasonable price. Stellar 45 as well!
How Cameo Parkway allowed this 45 to be released with an art sleeve like this is beyond me but I am very appreciative someone let it happen!
I did not know about this 45 and it's picture sleeve until Teenbeat Mayhem. A fab photo!
Last but not least, the very epitome of bonehead crunchers. And really hard to find in any shape or release. never seen the US Prince release and my copy is the first European release I've come across for the 2 years that I have been searching for it. Probably hated by the masses but I like it. Fuzzzzzzz......
More to come next week.
A really cool PS + one of the Bonehead Holy Grails!
And then for an added design bonus. My father was also a collector, he was probably responsible for me becoming one as well. Here are some great cut-out cigaret package designs he collected as a young man. Enjoy!
