Might thy aural newbies tickle my eye

Well Christian, as for your question, because Days like that would not have that great feel if those happened all the time:sneaky:
Anyway, my sincere congrats on the great scores!

Finally scored a copy of this (IMO) absolute monster :)

But, but there´s so much fuzz.....:sonny:
Måns, you shouldn´t reveal these things BEFORE our garagenight get-together. Where´s the surprise now?:screwy:;)

I didn't think you'd be this quick on the computer haha! But I assure you there's a coupla more nice surprises in the box for the pow-wow... :wtf:

Not been that active buying new 45s so far this year, but the vinyl hunger got to me in the end! Dangerous beast

First time ever I've seen this, quite pleased with this little pop ditty! Not so pleased with the grading though, John Mansh*p ought to know better! The great side plays well, the flip not so well. And a small piece is missing in the inner circle where the label is a bit white. No biggie but when you sell records for a living, details like this is make or break for a lot of people, and he/they should have known better. Rant over.

grading is so subjective, but some of us must be doing something correct for years now, wwwhere ever we roam on the internets, if feedback is a barometer.

you can usually spot good dealers a mile away.

i was never a collector. i'm a guitarist, music lover and vinyl fan with a shitload of records who became a retailer. i really don't give a shit about rarity or minutia, but i know about that stuff. i'm old. i remember when many came out. "^/

perhaps that is the rub. some people want nothing but the profit. and they fudge grading to try and eek out another dime.

i'm in this for passion. the money is a by product... and i refuse to misrepresent a record. i ain't losing my word over a darn record. perhaps that is revealing about grading. it takes honor to grade well. not everyone excels in that, i guess.

some new sellers are just clueless. if they new better, they'd likely grade better... but some humans are straight up hosebags. i don't think manship is that. i think you have buyers eyes, and he has sellers eyes, if you get my drift.

my favorite customers are the high school kids who walk thru the mom and pop door, call me sir and ask for otis redding, john coltrane and classic rock. they don't have the first clue about grading or pressings. i teach them that.

i won't sell them scratched up dreck, but they'd buy it if i was that person.

some of us aren't that person who can't grade. damn proud of that.

what i've noticed after selling to nearly every collector community, is collectors have driven up the price of records and high school kids just love music. i relate to the latter.

There is nothing subjective about a piece of vinyl actually missing from the 45. And if a 45 is full of marks after a long jukebox it ain't buyers eyes either. I know perfectly well what I am doing.

I think you mistake this forum for being a general chat room about records. It ain't.

i'm expressing my opinion, and if that doesn't sit well with your anal retentive ways, no problem.

you'll have to grow thicker skin. perhaps when you grow up that'll occur.

it is a tiny fleck on a label and that isn't worth whining about. life is way too short for that level of anal retentive behaviour.

you must be a yuppie. got it.

i find it very revealing you're more focused on that chip in the paper, than the music.

i wouldn't have had that problem. i'd of graded it properly, and most of my customers aren't that anal retentive. thank goodness.

.

Please fuck off back to your maltshop memories shop. How many times are you going to yap on about age? Is that your only prerogative, that you are old? Because it sure ain't your social skills.

Manship grades pretty much like most UK dealers. He's better than average, IMO. I have a lot of reservations about buying records from UK dealers who are connected to the soul scene. I once bought a M- record (not from Manship) that had
- two big scratches on the big side that made loud pops through 1/4 of the song
- label was water damaged
- record was polished (a big problem in the UK)
Three strikes, record returned, and that dealer was OUT! The dealer said that he was selling for 'a mate' and that his 'mate' did the grading....:crap:

There are some guys who I have dealt with (Ady Potts, Nev Griffiths) who grade well and are honest about the record so I can't say they are all bad, but I would be cautious and ask for scans and sound files for any purchase.

Let's not forget the ultimate record grading passive aggresive statement.... "plays OK for DJ'ing".....kinda like a description I once read that said something like "sounds great when listening in the nexr room"

By all means, I like the guy. And I've also bought a lot of soul 45s from him without complaint. I guess it's just the garage 45s he ignores. Last one I bought, perhaps 10 years ago, was the Beaus of Beethoven. A bargain Ex copy until I received it and it turned out it had a nasty warp. Playable, but something NOT ok to leave out of the description.

But yeah, UK sellers, prefer to travel across rather than buy online. But that is unfortunately something of a European phenomenon. Except certain A-grade sellers, and strangely enough, given their poor reputation as a buyer nation, Italy. Only got positive things to say about transactions (also to) from Italy

What's up?

The Painted Air. THAT'S what's up.

I WISH this was my find, but it was a neighbor/dealer/buddy who scooped it earlier this week. Probably the only time I'll ever touch one… So amazing.

There is a certain expression of physical pain and mental awe visible through the beast's center hole. Not being the finder, I could defenitely relate to both, though more to the first sentiment...

This year I've been a lot more focused on my garage wants and together with some ebay luck I'm been able to hunt some down.

I had no idea this band existed!! Ran into it while reading TBM...out of Carlsbad NM, how big could that city been in the 60's!!! A Regional want.

Finally grabbed a copy!
