Might thy aural newbies tickle my eye

Member ratfinkle has this to MP3 to post:

Iam trying to help him out by using basic html

This is the sound file, by an unknown artist, on an acetate click on it to hear:

<a href="http://50.6.55.186/Watching_Unkn Acetate_KyleG.mp3">Watching</a></p>

Kind of odd trying to get a link to work here- it is like posting html inside of html inside of html

Thanks Steve. This track is from an Emidisc actetate that was purchased in San Francisco by an A-Hole German former roommate. I recorded this before he absconded with some of my records and hi-tailed it back to his stinkhole in Beilefeld, DE. Any info on this track would be appreciated.

Congrats on the Celtics as well... still need to redo their piece on LoneStarStomp and add that great photo of the group I got from the lead vocalist/guitarists son.

Thanks
I ran into a Torquetts copy in WFMU record fair, didn't know it was from El Paso and passed on it , until later I found out. I knew of the Celtics disc but never heard it, until I came across your blog. Be great to see the photo of the group!
Do you know how many discs were released on the Lin Jo label? I only have two besides the Celtics.

103 - "Big" LLoyd Dalton - Freght Train Man / I Hope It Lands On You
109 - D-Y and the Motivators - Hold It / Soft Wind

Been awhile! A small mountain of 45s have arrived & I thought I´d spam this thread with some label scans again. Picking the more odd ones of the latest arrivals.

First off, my favorite Albert Washington 45 (so far) & a lovely Rite pressing to boot. Is this a sped up lift from Howlin´Wolf´s Who´s been talking? Either way both are great. Got a good price since Americans are scared of Euroman dealers.

Captain Foam was one of the winners (for me) from the the recent Bonehead Crunchers comp. I gave the lp away in disgust over the horrible cover color and the rather uneven track selection so I better start saving up for the 45s I like on it. This wash´t too expensive and packs a punch!

Quite a primitive disc that I know nothing about. Good entertainment for the price.

This isn´t garage, more Hair/hippie exploitation but with a winning fuzz sound & a strong vocalist. I have a weak spot for these kind of 45s. Flip is an instro hammond(?) version that made me laugh.

I bow my head in admiration and respect for this song. So strong. Deserves more exposure.

Where were these guys from? Since it´s not on the Forth Worth comps I assume they are from elsewhere. Strange it is not comped (well, as far as I know & comps ain´t my strong side. Pfft?) It´s got a pretty cool guitar theme throughout.

Yes! I did not pay attention when BW (as older forum posts suggest) had quantity of this. Can anyone confirm? Personal fave from the Frantic comp that JoeyD put out. Pretty hammered but plays great.

Twilight zone disc from early 80s that has the 60s garage song formula and attitude but done in a way that is not part of the retro scene (at least I don´t think so) Should have been 2 minutes shorter but still a fun discovery

As with the above disc, fab 60s blueprint & cheap to score.

Another post-Initial Shock disc and hinting on the raw sound that the Invaders 45 would display many years later. Can you get more catch phrases squeezed onto a label? A savage rock experience! 1971?

Good and pleasant version. At least I think so but then I´m overtly fond over cover/version/whatever 45s

I like both this and the Musicor version a lot. Also the Fabulous Denos cut a killer disc with this song (I think he was a member?)

Been humming this periodically since I first heard it on Electric Sugarcube Flashbacks back when I was still a young man. A pretty affordable 45, finally managed to pucker up and push the button

Fab 45 rotting away on a Quagmire volume. Someday I´ll re-boot vol.3-5 with excellent sound and label scans as a forum giveaway (Can´t afford to do this with vol 1 & 2!)
542089_10150958838655631_726540630_12589951_325118798_n.jpg

Stellar r&b/garage´ish instrumental!
560469_10150958839345631_726540630_12589956_2042900333_n.jpg

And last but not least (or probably least to some, haha!) Power riff-o-rama deluxe with a shockingly incompetent backing track (at times) A 45 that both provides goose bumps and a good laugh. Flip Spectre more "known" but a tad too long.

Thank you and good night!

Cheers,

are you talking about somebody fond of black wigs and broad-rimmed glasses? If that's him, I could have squeezed his buttock the other week, when his band played in town.

That's news to me, Alec has one Wickham probably has it but never heard of quanity on this one. I found D. Witherspoon and he never even had one!!!

Wow, nice finds Mr. Segment! You are correct, the Kasuals song has never been comped.
I look forward to your new forum comp series ;)

Slow couple o' weeks... most notable find was this item.

A fellow that reads my blog and used to live here was in town visiting his folks and happened to hit an estate sale before I did and found this acetate. Local fellow/group with a Penguins remake on this side and an Elvis remake on the flip. Woulda been cooler yet if one had been an original. Oh well.... okie dokie record and a nice addition to the Odessa collection.

Plus it was free.

The benefits of blogging...

Record fair today. The social one with dj's and white wine galore. Picked up a few niceties. One of the old timers is slowly trickling out his collection. He's got some amazing stuff, just waiting for the real biggies to show. Unfortunately there was a lot of hazing on some of the rarer stuff, a warning to you all. He was really bummed out about this and had thrown out meters of PVC shit after discovering what was about to/already in progress of happening. Looking forward to (with dread) when he is letting the heavier stuff go, like both the UK Factory 45s, Wimple Winch+++. In addition to loads of US garage 45s aquired in the 80s and early 90s.

Here is some haze free 45s I bought, all priced slightly higher than the price of a nice glass of white wine (in Norway)

A few $1 grabs from an estate sale and the flea market...

Way out of scope for the G45, but this is a 78 I've long wanted since first hearing it on a cd-r Don Julio sent me years and years ago. Great Texas Panhandle swing from an amazingly consistent artist.

Someone had dumped a box of surf related lps at my favorite local digging' spot. So weird to see so many surf lps from one collection out here in West Texas. Mostly of the Ventures catalog was there along with a ton of Beach Boys and Jan & Dean. I picked up the below...

Really digging the folkiness of the Surfaris disc. De-Fenders is good, too.

The condition of the records, especially covers, was a bit tough but for a buck a throw they cleaned up nice enough to blast here at el Rancho.

Some of the records-if not all of them- came from the collection of a local guy that had a habit of customizing sleeves with cardboard cutouts, masking tape, and markers. The above Astronauts disc is one of the more extreme examples I've seen over the years. The record in the sleeve was "Go Go Go", which is a great record, but he customized a "For You From Us" sleeve. Weirdness.

Nice stuff! And once again I ask... HOW on earth do you do to post pictures like that on this forum? I think I've tried every option and it just doesn't work...

Haha! Again? If, fer instance, you have an image on Facebook you want to show here, right click, choose "properties" and copy the jpg link. Push the little tree on this site and copy in the address. Voila, freshly served image. I know a lot of image posting sites have a confusing array of links to choose from. I only use Facebook as a storage place for forum pictures. Too tired of messing with all the free hosting sites.
