Retro now sounds

I´m also really happy with The Cynics` brand new album, "Spinning Wheel Motel" . Love their turning direction towards more semi-acoustic folky garagepunk. Old heroes, remains my true heroes. ;)

Mentioning The Indikation in earlier post, check out both 7" from singer/frontman Frode Skjold, very limited on Jansen Records. The "A Song To You" is one of the most catchy poptunes released in Norway the last 40 years........

David Peter and The Wilde Sect are worth checking out but according to their Facebook page are in the process of playing some final gigs before splitting.

Those guys ARE good!

Shame to hear they're partying ways. :(

I remember hearing they were planning on releasing an LP. Did that ever actually happen?

I ordered a copy of their EP. (The Tornado Sessions) a few months back.

"David Peter & The Wilde Sect will be splitting! After a long quiet period we decided to call it a day. Maybe we'll put out our 1st album, and doing a release/goodbye gig, but otherwise our last show will be in Gothenburg on July 1st."

sad news :(

got both their singles, excellent both of them.

Have a few beers in my recordcave and spins a lot of 45s tonight.

*blush*
Sorry Mans (hey Sebastian are you around?), why haven´t I mentioned "The Flight Reaction" yet ??
Great 45s, some outstanding tunes and even greater debutconcert in Oslo last year. Yes, I´m talkin´ about the connoisseur 60s band out of Stockholm, Sweden. Really look forward to have you guys back at the GutterBall festival next month.

Just have to save up some energy.............

Not "now" anymore. In fact when I began listening to US 60's (Pebbles, Sonics, Standells, Chocolate Watchband etc) around '82 that music was "newer" than the 80's garage is now... :O
But still - this will be pretty cool and I do believe it's worthwile aswell. We did write our own songs and didn't rely on covers like so many others. The 2 45s we did are among the rarest and most expensive items of the whole "scene". Scroll down a bit for: http://www.groovierecords.com/index.htm

I dig the Flight Reaction they have a killer 45 released on the label I am on over in the States 13o'clock records... great band... I highly recommend them and their records!!!

I would recommend The Higher State as being a great garage band from now... those guys as well as being good friends to me are amazing musicians. and songwriters... they have been consistently great since their early days as The Mystreated, then in between with The Embrooks and Deltonics and now The Higher State.... you can't fault a group of guys who have matured upon each release and gotten better and better as time goes by.

Marty and Mole are genius' in my eyes and I hold them both in high esteem as friends and fellow garage musicians... they both after all recognised that I wrote good songs and gave me the opportunity to record music at their studio and put records out on their label and for that I have big respect from them.

I too try to avoid covers... If I do attempt a cover I wanna do one which is special to me y'know?

P

Nice to hear Paul. Yeah I really like 13 O'Clock. Good mastering job, GREAT 45 sleeves and labels + great guy of course. Hopefully we'll do something more with him - I'll do it just to get real 60's lookin' sleeves and labels.
Pincodes suck - there should be an option to have the pincode as a sticker on the 45 sleeve so once it's bought it could be removed. Maybe it's easy to do that...
The Higher State et al are great in my book aswell.
The band I had before The Flight Reaction (The Maggots) started out really genuine garage punkish but IMO fell victim to different members' all sortsa eclectic tastes in r&r. It was a fun band but didn't become the band I wanted to be in.
The Flight Reaction on the other hand is completely devoted to sounding genuine 60's garage/psych (no long hippie solos or anything like that though!!!) and all members in the band are equally into 60's garage(everybody's collecting 45s more or less, for example), vintage instruments'n'gear, the clothes etc. It feels really good and hopefully that shows in the music. We're slowly working on a long player at the moment...
And yeah I agree with you on covers... we have a coupla covers live and we might end up recording one or two for singles or such. But like you say they need to be kinda special.

Not sure what it's called. That's why it's a special request on these boards. My band wants to learn the song and my partner asked me if I vould get him the song on cd to listen to while learning the song. I don't know how to get the music in the first place, but I do know gow to make a cd if I have the song in that format.

Thanks, Frantic. I am now the proud owner of a cd with that song on it. Thank you so much. I knew I could count on you guys here.

This should work but if it doesn't I don't know what to do...

1. Click START BUTTON
2. Click PROGRAMS BUTTON
3. Click ACCESSORIES BUTTON
4. Click ENTERTAINMENT BUTTON
5. Click VOLUME CONTROL BUTTON

Then just mess around with the levels till you get it...This should do it...;)

Thanks. I got it. Actually, the problem was me. When I played the cd on my stereo, I had forgotten to remove the headphones. Duh?!?

Because it fits the type of music we are playing and my partner 's voice is perfect for that song. I will record us doing this song as soon as we het it down and let you listen to that. I think you ubderstand why we would choose to play that song. Besides, I kike the song and it does make me smile. Not everyone is strictly into 60's Garage and beig a 2 piece acoustical band it fits our style of what has been categorized as Folk Rock. Frantic, you would not be disappointed with our performance like you probably would be if we claimed to some 60's reunion of Tonto and the Renegades. They died in 1969. Our band today, The Trails End is now although 90% or more of our play list is from the 60's and early 70's. Ask Greefuzz how we sound. It's not so much our song selections, it's how we play them. Mike has been involved with us since my partner Jim Hall and I decided to get together and play again, Jim played one of the horns on the 2nd T&TR 45.

These are my buddies, THE SHAG RATS

They're from Boyle Heights AKA East Los Angeles. Their influences range from 50's music, 60's music, garage rock, r'n'b, blues, glam, punk, and beyond! They play original material mostly, but for this set they do a cover of "Cry" by The Malibus. They've also been known to cover "You're Gonna Miss Me" and "Hog" (The Groupies ver.) from time to time. I love these guys... so much, that they're my favorite band currently.

Here they are performing a few tunes for ya..

Not the singer's best night, considering how he's a bit tipsay!

But hey, it's rock 'n' roll!

Don't know about tipsy, didn't drink or smoke or anything prior to or during performances. Not so much that way today, but still don't get to where I can't play the music properly.
