Oh man, this looks incredible! I can’t wait to hear the live stuff!!Coming next year on High Moon - 24 tracks, all the surviving studio recordings including the Fender IV, and an incredible unreleased live set from the Avalon - blows even the Oxford Circle out of the water! Alec played the live set for me, it's insane!

You will be missing Feathered Fish (final single without Randy) plus killer Avalon set. Not to mention huge liners and such. Get it!!!
It's fairly common knowledge that the Sons masters fried in the Universal vault fire, including their version of Hey Joe which according to the band was supposed to be incredible. Alec held the tape for that in his hands, but due to licensing protocols at the time (late 90s), wasn’t able to copy it. The best sources were used for everything, you should be happy with the sound. The Randy version of Feathered Fish is just hearsay, no confirmation that it was officially recorded. Alec did say his notes for this package are in excess of 15000 words!Hope this is 100% tape-sourced. The styrene distortion on both of the Fender IV
Imperial singles is formidable...even on 'visually mint' copies.

nope, only the live stuff is from tapes. If Alec could have released this years ago when he wanted to, it would have all been from tapes.Did the Fender IV Imperial masters survive the Bonfire Of The Master Tapes?

Interested in hearing the live set. Is it an Avalon Ballroom show?
As someone who hasn't bought any comps in about 5 years, are there any essential releases I've missed? (If available on CD)
Do you know how soon? It was announced quite a while ago.
Surprisingly, it’s not an Ace/Big Beat release. High Moon Records is releasing it.Not on the Ace/Big Beat site the last time I looked.
