Surprise, surprise - idle chatter about TBM

Maybe one of those "Fradulent" groups from modern times created to make it seem as if they were really from back in the day?

Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, but I dug out my copy of Bury My Body vol.1, and lo and behold, there it is! The scan shows it's a 'no label' release, with the catalogue no. BP-180.

From Illinois, 1967 if the track list is correct.

If can be of any help this is the pic (from my smartphone)

Cool! Digging it greatly!
Don't feel like discussing the sound. It's great anyway.

It surely is among the most authentic sounding modern 60s garage records I ever heard...

Thanks, Axel! We weren't too concerned with authenticity, but instead we focused on a pure, "live" sound.
This song was our first of two sessions at Coyote Recording Studios in Brooklyn, NY. The two brothers who ran the place knew how to get a great vintage sound with minimal mics, and more importantly, knew proper mic and instrument placement.

If you go to my Youtube page (MopTopMike) I uploaded 2 tracks by my 2nd group, the Wrong Directions. Those are crude recordings done with one mic hanging suspended from a ceiling rafter. We recorded them onto a cassette player "boombox", one of those portable things. I have a whole bunch of those, since we used to record most practice sessions.

I've also got some cool non comp (most of 'em are) garage 45s too

These tracks too are missing from TBM (be patient )

Liner notes on the booklet (which I suppose they are not reliable) say the F.B.I were from Los Angeles.

I think I've seen these listed in the book - maybe under a related band name?
