I received my copy this week. I almost didn't buy it, but after hearing it, I'm very glad I did. It's expensive, but the best sound I've ever heard from any Beatles issue. I don't own 1st press mono copies of the original LPs, so I can't compare to the originals.

I got mine from Amazon, and the packaging was amazing, ensuring the set arrived in Australia in mint condition. Pretty impressive.

I don't have the vinyl, but bought the mono CD box set when it came out. Got the stereo set as well, both from Amazon.
I owned several 1st (or very early) press UK monos (Revolver through the White Album) and was able to do comparisons. The remasters definitely held up well against the original vinyl, and I decided I could definitely live without the latter.

Amazon's packaging is amazing; just another part of how well run they are for such a large business (as per my comments on the anti-eBay thread).

I haven't really scoped out the vinyl box (out of fear of buying it and breaking my budget), but I presume the vinyl box set has a larger sized copy of the Beatles In Mono booklet with the CD box.

I totally agree. The sound is great. I also bought mine from Amazon and the packaging for domestic shipping was equally amazing.

It's a completely different, hard covered, 108 page full sized book of the highest quality.

The audio is also completely different and noticeably superior to the mono CD box. The mono CD box was mastered using the usual digital transfer process. The mono LP vinyl set was mastered directly from the original mono master tapes straight to the LP lathe, just like in the '60s. No digital stage. The book contains a complete description of the process with lots of cool photos of the vintage equipment used.

I do own an entire collection of original Parlophone Mono and Stereo first UK pressings, and to me they have always been the ONLY way to truly hear those recordings. It's a revelation to hear they have finally done it right with the mono vinyl box set. I can finally tell my pals who do not have the time or expense to do it like I did that they can be assured this was done well and is worth the investment.

Be very careful when buying the stereo or mono cd boxes, loads of bootlegs on ebay and Amazon side sellers. Go to youtube and there are videos showing the difference between legit and boot sets.

My fave LP is Revolver.
If I ever chose my songs to reduce the White Album to 1 LP, that would be #2.

Fave 45 is I Feel Fine/She's a Woman.
She Loves You was the first record I owned (1963 - I think it had "don't drop out").

I like all the early ones, up to and including Revolver. But I think my favourite is Rubber Soul. If I'm feeling more like listening to beat music, then I'd go for With The Beatles. Help and Hard Days Night are also awesome. What's your favourite Bård?

Well, I have to admit I haven't immersed myself too deeply into every single Beatles album, but of those I do know very well, my top three are A Hard Day's Night, Rubber Soul and Revolver. I also like Sgt Pepper a lot, probably mostly of nostalgic reasons.

Well, this thread made me order it from Amazon. I called around to my local stores and their prices were all like $45+ more than Amazon so... Here goes nothing. Last thing I ordered from Amazon (pre-ordered a month in advance) came about 10 days after it was in the local stores flopping around in an oversized with like 5 of those bags of air failing to protect it. To make matters worse the local stores had it at a better price. Weak effort. Here's hoping this time will work out better!

Did you order it from Amazon or a side seller on Amazon? If you ordered it from a side seller, the odds are pretty good that you will get a bootleg. If direct from Amazon you will be good to go.
