Hi!

This has bugged me for some time, is there an online source for the rundown of the NR matrix/pressing plant numbering? And which state/plant is it? I know nothing at all about this but keep bumping into cool & obscure 45s with this as the mutual denominator. Please excuse the scan. I love it but it ain't g45 fodder

NR = Nashville Record Productions.

As with many of the older pressing plants, the NR master number was assigned per each client in sequential order.
Earliest year for their account is 1971.
Generally speaking, the first number identifies the year. The numbers are not 100% precise to each year but your master number on the scan above would be from 1979. 10xxx is late 1979 / 1980 time frame, 8xxx = 1978, etc.

Definitely 1978 on that record. The numbers are sequential, so first digit is not necessarily year. As noted, the discogs listing -- which I've spent a lot of time on, adding NR numbers to releases there -- is the best resource out there for dating these discs.

Aha! So that's the way to list it. Hereby updated. Registering slowly all my records at discogs. Giving the next generation a small chance at actually having a way of disposing of my rubbish when I pass on.
