The Outsiders' Tom King RIP

On a second listen I'd say it is Tom himself singing "Bend Me, Shape Me". Geraci's voice sounds different. Not as rough and deep.
There aren't any liners on the record. So it might prove hard to finally decide.

do you know how many recordings of Time Won't Let Me exist?
and if the one from that Lp

(which I think, except that one song, is pretty weak)
is different from the 7"?
thanks!

I don't think I've played anything by the Action during the last five years outside of Rolled Gold.
I didn't even know it when I started trying to defend them here. I ordered the CD right away, and I must say it's totally amazing. Very unique powerful pop. In fact I'd say it's early power pop. I wouldn't know what else to compare it to. Big Star maybe.
In any case, to my ear it sounds extremely fresh and timeless. It's a revelation to me.

You're right, the first album is the weakest. I can only recommend the second.
Here's another cover version of "Time Won't Let Me" (pretty cool live version actually with some nice pics):

I agree that it's very good. I don't play it constantly or anything but pull it off the shelf once or twice a year.
