Hey guys.

I was wondering if anyone in here knew anything on a Satyrs who recorded a track titled "Blue Blue World"?

I've been trying my best to locate any info, but no luck! Are these guys the the same band who recorded the classic "Yesterday's Hero", or are they a band who recorded for a label called "Wal-Mor" out in Carolina?

Any and all info would be appreciated my friends.

"Blue Blue World" is the B side of a cool tune, "Don't Be Surprised", released in early '65 on the Wal-Mor label. I have the 45.

Thank you for the information Mike, and of course to greenfuzz for his input as well.

I've heard "Don't Be Surprised" through your MTM spins series. I had a feeling it was the same band.

I agree, it's cool!

Hey y'all

I actually just wrote a story on the Satyrs from Asheville for the Mountain Xpress, the weekly here in Asheville. I tracked them down and interviewed 3 out of the 4 members. They only recorded that one 45, with A side "Blue Blue World" and B side "Don't Be Surprised." It was recorded after hours one night at an electronics store in downtown Asheville, which makes sense with the recording quality. It sounds like the store also sent them out to be pressed, and made from anywhere between 100 and 500 copies (the band members have no idea, none of them even have a copy anymore).

Hope that helps. You can check out the whole story here: http://mountainx.com/article/41540/Hunting-down-The-Satyrs

Great job, Miles. I really enjoyed it.

Cool, thanks y'all. Yeah, they were great to talk to, and they were all genuinely amazed that anybody had even heard of them, or would even still care. Both are such cool little tunes, though. Thank Greg Cartwright for turning me on to it.

I also interviewed the only other Asheville garage band to record a 45, The Fabulous Wunz. I know quite a few of their records are floating around. Here's a link to that post:
