What are you listening to and what do you have to say about it?

Cold, but would like some of that snow. Haven't snowed this little in Oslo for a good few years now. I want to go skiing!

Just been listening to this because I just won it:

Also bought the Black Keys El Camino and listened to it yesterday. I'm sure I would've dug this heavily maybe ten years ago. Now I start skipping songs after the first 3 or 4. There is something about the sound on new records, it is not very exciting. Or maybe I've listened to too much 60s and 70s to be able to "go back" to new stuff. I can live with that.

I like those stinging fuzz bursts throughout the song...

I picked this one up recently

The label has Pocket Full of Tunes which I thought had something to do with the Tokens, right?

I'm listening to some old Boss Martians stuff that was being transferred recently, I'm not sure if there is something coming out or not but some of this is the sheep's pinata to listen to! It's a much later vintage than '60s and yet it is the real and genuine 'thing'.

'Fast Master' by Super Band on Nuclear (among the best tracks from the all-killer For A Few Fuzz Guitars More cd) - absoultely amazing early 1970's garage track crazed from start to finish, singer sounds like a hyperactive preteen nervous as hell (the lyrics are something like, '7 long years of people's doubts and fears and we're finaly gonna show'em tonight!') with a band that blasts away with something like what mighta happened had the One Way Streets attempted to jump on the MC5/Stooges Detroit grunge punk bandwagon....btw, Ohio Garage, if you're out there, can you maybe put up that late period unreleased Streets track for download again? superband.jpg

AND just got about halfway through the new 'Preflyte Plus' cd....totally amazing so far, way too many highlights to even mention - The Byrds are still one of the best 60's bands ever, famous or otherwise (pic below is from Preflyte Plus' layout and appears there in much higher quality than here)

I've been meaning to pick this up. This seals the deal...

Amongst my recent purchases this last week were these two.
(suddenly can't get the YouTube clips to embed, they're both on there if curiosity is sparked)

The Taboos, since I (almost) never buy compilations anymore, was a nice surprise on a lovely label.

Also this. Probably wrong forum but I thought this was really good.

Anyone know if the 45 can be dated by the NR10203 code? I have a few with this series on them, would be great to know if it was 70s or 80s.

Wow! Didn't check this out until now. Amazing. But it's so out there its' definitely on the fringes of what I would hand over that much money for. Have you heard their other 45? I see there was one more on popsike.

hell yeah! The Lemon Sandwich, The Shandells(who r also on Carldell), and this all prove the greatness of LaSalle. Is there any non garage stuff on that label? the amount of garage on there seems pretty low, but very high quality making wonder what else (if anything) the label had to offer

i didn't even know they had another 45, wow! that rules.....an old popsike auction for 'Fast Master' sez that it *might* be a Missouri record and the b-side is a ballad. Other than thier FFFGM appearance, i know nothin about these mighty kings

yeah, finished listening to the whole thing last night - the music here is crucial, it's great to have all these cuts on one high quality release, with some totally great photos of the guys in their prime (theres a great/hilarious shot of McGuinn with a proto-Elvis coiffe and collegiate buttdown look that just screams *square* charm).....for me the best cut is actually the least garagey/least rock sounding one of them all: the solo accousitc 1963/64 Gene Clark tearjerker 'She's The Kind Of Girl' from the totally 'new' Columbia demo reel aka what makes this release totally unique in comparison to other early Byrds comps....another amazing thing is how despite the inclusion of many different versions of the same songs, each variation is so different than the next in terms of both performance and musicianship that for a change it really is worth hearing multiple version of a'lotta the same songs, making this way more than a completist item, at least for stragglers like me who never bought any of the older or Sundazed versions of this record.....the only drawbacks are the suspicous lack of publishing credits and an unusually noticable lack of grammar check in the liners, lol, otherwise i'd reccomend this to any diehard garage or folk rock fans

lol, Expo 67...say, i've got a bit of that infamous 21st century attention span - are you the same Expo 67 who posts on the cavestones blog? if so, great job! i just linked stuff from your Rick Sousa/Loos Foos interview to my profile on an also infamous social networking website - those guys were one of the class of 69's best and brightest, for sure

Listening to "2/3 Baby" by the 2/3rds. I like the instrumentation, but the bass is overpowering and the lead singer seems to think he's doing some kind of soul record.
