What are you listening to and what do you have to say about it?

Bought this boxset last friday. The 6 LPs got most of the spintime on the deck since then. Lots and lots of great songs here. (the original 45s next to buy). I know, I know, Syl Johnson is probably common knowlegde to most of you, but still.......
Numero Group delivers the goods with another great relesase. Damn, there´s so (too) much good music out there.

Getting late, have a couple of beers and "It´s because I´m Black" before bedtime.

It's called the Complete Mythology but is not complete. Does not have any of the Hi Record label stuff. And yes, those 4 cds are also included which includes everything on the records!!! Box set of the year? Me thinks...yes;)

Yesterday evening i spun this one:

Amazing comp of super-obscure Brazilian garage. Lovely gatefold cover, too. Sound-quality is pretty rough here and there, but I guess minty copies of these obscurities are hard to come by...

I got this a couple of months ago. The packaging is good although I'm sick of the zombies/monsters fascination with garage as depicted on the cover. They should have gone for some hairy arsed Brazilian gorillas instead.

Some of the sound quality reminds me of those Boulders comps.

Rev... how much was that Syl Johnson boxset??

II too hate the cartoon gimmickry attached with the new garage scene... it's pretty dumb... I mean what I wanna see is a picture of a bunch of teens looking bored in a graveyard, that's about as close to zombies I wanna get.

I've been spinning

A chess records 4 cd boxset
The Five Bucks - No Use In trying (as I am learning the bass, guitar and organ parts ready for my next recording session)
Teenage Shutdown - She'll Hurt You In The End Comp
H.P Lovecraft - At the Mountains of Madness
John Coltrane - Blue Train

And whatever I have wrote about recently on my blog www.thetransparentradiation.blogspot.com

Rev... Mole tells me you've purchased my records.... thanks a lot man

Records in Norway are pretty expencive, paid about $115 for the boxset. Normal going for other Numeru Group-releases (single LPs) are around $36 ( :( )

Love the Five Bucks, great single, been in the collection for some years. Any volume of Teenage Shutdown never do wrong.

Yup, bought 10 7" from Mole some weeks ago (around the same time that fxxx bomb/terror happened)
Great stuff!! :)

Only 2 weeks left ´till GutterBall 2011, with The Mummies headlining the whole shit. Weekend passes selling pretty good, even people all the way from Australia will hang around.

The new, upcoming Higher State album Freakout at the Gallery! It will be hitting the streets at the end of October.
The Remains - Let Me Through 45 on Sundazed. Live version taken from their appearance on the Ed Sullivan show.

The Higher State LP is GREAT... having heard the rough mixes and seen and be around whilst it's been recorded, I can tell you, you're in for a real treat... it is possibly their most 'mature' album to date, but that isn't a bad thing, it is very psychedelic and yet still rough round the edges in a good way!!!.... songs and sound production are top class on this too!!!

The Remains 45 is pretty far out isn't it? the vibe is just so electric and raw.

I have just purchased the OP ART comp and Syl Johnson boxset thanks to you guys.... I dunno why but I am highly looking forward to getting these in the post.

I may be a bit mad(hanging around here hehe) but I finally managed to get this:

Swedish outsider extraordinaire. Stupidly rare for a major label. I know of 4 copies and never seen one in a store. I can't imagine they sold any back when. I know it's crap. But it's amazingly incredible crap.

Good luck heheh. I actually think this oddity is as rare as hens' teeth, even though it's a major label. Took me many years to find one. I wonder what they were thinking at the label. If they thought they had a novelty hit on their hands copies would turn up more often but it doesn't. I thought a buddy got one on tradera (swedish 'ebay') but I was mistaken - he didn't. I know of ONE copy found out in the wild. My copy comes from a friend who works at the reception center for records at a goodwill chain. The good stuff never reach the stores...

Did EMI do tax scam records?

There are plenty of bored looking teenagers inside the gatefold + pics of all (almost) the 45s featured.
I don't mind the monster/zombie thing as long as it's done right. And Darren Merinuk is a great artist.

Westex.... those kids have got what I am talking about to a tee.

Pfft it seems this Brazilian nuggets thing is another record on my to BUY list... the cartoon vibes are not for me, too overdone, actual photographs are where it's at for me.

A picture of a steaming piece of turd?? isn't that the cover of the last Justin Bieber album?

Just got home a Swedish M- '68 original of Pretties - SF Sorrow (paid 360 SEK = $50)
Don't know why I never bought this LP before but this score makes up for it pretty well :D

Hey that ain't fair hahahaha....

I recently bought Pebbles Volume 11 CD and was surprisingly impressed by the sound quality throughout.

The liners are a bit scary and some of the tracks outlined in the liners for the set don't even show up on the CD. What happened there?

I can remember this release being discussed on the old Forum but I didn't pay much attention. With my memory I would have forgotten by now anyway!

The absolute winner for me is 'Prince Of Dreams' by The Family Tree.
