What are you listening to and what do you have to say about it?

Amazing early material but...their later material is very lacklustre in comparison. All I really need is the 2 red label Accent 45s (all 4 sides) and "Readin' Your Will". Very close to 5 straight 10/10s in my book. After that, nothing above 4.

Surprised to read your so-so appreciation. THere's highlights for sure, and tracks better than others, but I just don't see a single weak song there, MAJOR release IMO (even if already released before on CD, but who wants CD) for anybody into DIY, moody and snarly 60s punk.

Nobody mentioned this release before, but that's a total must-have IMO. Just released on LP with the full cooperation of Ray Hummel III.

The Five Americans' "I See The Light" LP, the Sundazed reissue. Really a fantastic album - they even make "Twist And Shout" sound good. "It's A Crying Shame" is the highlight for me so far.

Great record by blues giant Little Walter: "Hate To See You Go".
Outstanding vocals (and harp of course!) on this ultra-gritty track:

I picked up a copy of the Rebels on Bay-Uke also and the seller saw them back in the day. Stated the 45 was done in 1970 and the band was from Boswell PA, south of Johnstown. Great record!

1970, eh? Sure sounds like something that would've come out a few years earlier. "Wild Cherries" is great to my ears.

I have to revise what I said about the "Winning Sides #3" comp earlier in this thread. In fact it's a great record full of fresh and pure teen punk. I just didn't get it the first time around. Well, better late than never... My apologies!
I mean, how can you beat stuff like this:

Some records just never lose their power, especially at one in the morning.
The Columbia Legacy also has one of the best sets of bonus tracks on a CD release.

My 2nd favorite Byrds album.

Saw them live in March 1972 with the McGuinn/White/Parsons/Battin lineup. 15+ minutes of Eight Miles High live when you (and probably everyone else in the audience) are that high is transcendental.

Found a copy of Before Birdmen Flew... Volume 3 at a local store. Giving it a spin now, and it's full of great stuff.

My knowledge of anything out of Australia is shamefully small, but this comp makes me want to hear a LOT more.

"And I'm Glad" by the Interns! This is one of the all-time moody masterpieces, but no one seems to realize it. From the Yardbirds-styled chant open, to the tin can drums, to the whispery, breathy vocals that remind me a little of the Trojans' version of "Leave Me Be"... wowza. The A-side's not bad either, but this one is from another universe...internsglad.jpg

Piccadilly Circus - "Do You Feel It"

I'm sure it has been said many times before, but thank god this single finally made it to vinyl. Both sides are killer.
