Dang that Moptop Mike should be like a 45 detective or something.
Yes, it is Evil Encorporated / Evil Enc Group the song is called - For Me To Love You
I don't know much else.
I got a new p/t job working a coal camp company store museum.
As you can see a beacon of architectural beauty but full of dark folk lore and history.
So in my first weeks a balding smiling face appears up the stairs. The owner asks if I am knowledgeable enough to give this gentleman, Butch, a tour. He seemed harmless so I agreed. He was a local from Oak Hill and when I mentioned the Coal Barons last name - Collins, he said "Yeah, I went to the Collins High School in the 60's"
I said "Did you know of Evil Encorporated" he told me he did and that he lived next door to the guitarists brother. So Butch and I spoke of music and miners lamps and the spirits that are suppose to haunt this building. We shook hands and he promised he'll ask his neighbor if he had or knew of spare copies of Hey You / The Point Is. I said if he did to come back ask for the "Crazy Englishman."
Saturday was busy and I had almost finished another tour when I was told some people were here to see me. I went to the front and there was a smiling balding guy and a couple. I slowly remembered Butch, he introduced me to Mike Dunlap he had a CDR for me with 5 Evil Encorporated songs. He apologized for the skip in the first song - Hey You.
I talked about how highly rated Evil Enc. were in MTM's Teen Beat Mayhem.
He told me he had played guitar in an earlier version of the band - The Squires, the lead member - Doug Gent (drums, lead vocals) thought it was kind of clean cut and wanted to change it. Another member said "Do you want to be like EVIL then?"
"Yes EVIL INCORPORATED" said another.
"If we are Incorporated we'll have to pay municipal taxes and stuff" joked one.
"We'll be EVIL ENCORPORATED then."
Mike was a few years older than the others and he was drafted to Vietnam and his position was taken by his brother Frank.
Another tour arrived on the steps and I had to cut our chat short but we exchanged numbers so if anyone has questions I could pass them along.
It is a very cool song to me, those drum rolls into the key changes were the sound I thought of as Evil Enc like.
