Beyond TeenBeat Mayhem

Yeah, talk about typing hell...there was no worthwhile database option when I began TBM, I mention this aspect in the BTBM intro. Each chapter / section has been manually keyed in to a visual document form (MS Word)

I was told early on that I should hire a fast typist to just key in data - not into a database, but just as one huge file that could be loaded into a database once set up. Problem with that, besides the prohibitive cost to pay someone, was the typist would not have any knowledge or connection to my project, and therefore might make quick assumptions based viewing incorrect spelling, grammar, etc. The cons outweighed the pros so I opted to do things the difficult way. I did try to use a spell check but that often corrected data that I wanted to keep intact.

The BTBM sorted list by song title with ratings breakdown - I wasn't really concerned with that since it was not considered important for song title "preciseness" - just a master list, for me, to tally ratings that would be incorporated into a huge ranking list. I received many requests to print the entire list, but didn't have the stamina to proof the entire list.

I've since been going thru everything as I update, then merge TBM / BTBM plus new entries per each alpha-letter. Obviously, I can't hope to catch every single typo / gaff in the BTBM song title list, so anyone who'd like, please feel free to alert me - just list the problem song title, and I will correct it.

Which brings us back to the old question: Will you publish / make available in any form this merged, corrected and amended A-Z listing? If there are not enough buyers to warrant an updated edition of the book, maybe at least a digital version could be done? Cheapskates might find ways to copy it unauthorised, but with close to zero production costs (you surely stopped calculating the hours you sank into this) every buyer would get you a bit of cash back for your great work. The notion of a cleaned up master file is quite tempting.

I plan on doing something, just not sure as to how it will all unfold just yet. Probably not until a year from now.
It won't be as a book or a re-do update of TBM, that is certain.

I'd like to make it free, or at least just charge a small fee for users to help offset design and hosting a digital file if need be.

Having a selected discography presented in digital format will please those who asked if I could prepare something for smartphones. It will also allow for no cost, real-time updating

ERRATUM: James T. & the Workers - Who can I turn to (ranked both #1662 and #1707)

#1662 was a duplication error.
Should be listed in the book at position #1707.
Currently, "Who Can I Turn To" occupies position #1716.

There was another duplicated title that has been fixed, but I can't recall what it was at the moment.
Reworking and merging all of the A to Z entries allows a line-by-line inspection and search to ensure nothing is accidentally duplicated within other sections.

Don't know if this got noticed yet, but Alan on Tuesday records title information(help me, please) does have a record # which is # 1 as seen on the attached scan. The other side only show letters tr-ssr.

I could not find the band A Passing Fancy ''I'm losing tonight''. Can someone tell me what book and page it's on? I checked the Canadian section, but it's not there.

Canadian groups & performers are only listed in BTBM if a 45rpm release was issued in the USA.
A Passing Fancy was not issued in the USA, only in Canada on Columbia, unlike the Liverpool Set, as all three of their releases were pressed in Canada on Columbia (Canadian label design) and in the USA on Columbia (American label design).

So, If I understand this if the Haunted was not recorded on Amy it would not be listed also?

A correction on The Birdwatchers ''girl i got new for you on Mala #527. Not 529 that is in tbm.

Can't find the Chantels on Bryan in either book. Shouldn't this be included? I do not know the year of release, so could be too old as flip side is a version of Del Shannon ''Runaway''.
