Wow the first time i've seen a 78 from El Paso! will you be posting it up at your blog Westex?

A few that i recently have found online and offline.

A couple El Paso Tx records

This I had never heard before but it was an important want!

This ones are not garage, but labels I am interested in especially Caprock. Joe Richie later formed the Rooks that recorded for Etiquette label and Mustang.

And last this six year older rockin and rollin', dont really know where he is from or exactly what year this record is from but I suspect early '62 '63, don't really know, couldn't find any info. Other than you tubin' his name and him appearing at a tv show. Any info greatly appreciated! A guy that works at a record shop had it on hold for me for almost 6 months!! I completely forgot about it. But glad he didn't sell it.

Haven´t heard this before, how is it? When I see a Coronado label I only think about Danny & The Counts, never really struck my mind that there might be other goodies on the label.

Well it was recorded the same way, it sounds very much the same regarding quality, but musically is different, and much more different than the songs recorded for the Lin Jo label. The flip is a ballad, moody i really quite like it.

You mentioned the you tubes of Gary...

Nice scores on the other stuff as well... especially that Ace Ball and the Danny and the Counts. Cool records. Other than the Danny and the Counts there are no other straight up garage records on Coronado. Surf, folk, chicano, jazz, soul... this is my favorite:

Also... that Wayne Johnston 78 is currently up on LoneStarStomp:

Please excuse the exceedingly bad label 'scan'.

i missed out on that quantity that showed up on the beachnuts record. i still need to find that one.

i also had the feeling that besides Danny and the Counts, The Celtics was going to be a garage record, even though i didnt know what to expect.
The Gene Willis Shing a ling record its a pretty solid rockin soul record

I waited until literally the last copy that he had... paid $70 off ebay.
Beach Nuts Irvin High Feb 1965.jpg
Just missed out on his last copy of the Michael Gisele and the Orange 45 he also had at the same time. Do believe that Little Danny wound up with the last copy of that one.

It´s been a busy year on all fronts. So here is an odds & sods from the last few months. A fun time was had by all!

Smashing well-known little pounder. Bought from Mr.Heitkotter, a surefire thrustworthy pusher of 45s indeed.

This has been a favorite for years and finally I was able to buy a copy that was in very strong condition. The scan makes the label look worse than it actually is. Love the vocals and the way the song evolves.

Curiosity got the better part of me here. It´s not bad at all, but I would hesitate to call it garage.

I love the completely ramshackle sounds of this. Young Ms. Dianne surely gives it her best shot and is veering close to real people territory. Backing is the sort of sound I have a soft spot for & was pleasantly surprised to see they had another 45 on the same label that racked up a 5 in tbm. Surely without Ms. Dianne on vocals. I have a hard time imagining she is able to sound moody they way we like moody to sound.

Next one up I stumbled across at a waxidermy set sale. Never heard it before but really liked it. Band has a blog entry somewhere on the internetz giving the full story with sound clips. Labels with the word custom on them is a bonus.

Lovely instro on a cool label

After an eBay saved search this popped up at a much more affordable price than the current copy floating around courtesy of a certain alice/thomasfunk

Fab instrumental! Flip is an ok protesty thing. Great guitar on this one

Surely the greatest value for money in 2012 in terms of musical power vs price given the quantity turned up? KILLER. And the flip is a winner as well. Rated high in TBM, could just as well have been top 100 in m y o p i n i o n

I decided on this when i saw Mr. Heitkotter's list. I commuted back home from work and it was gone! Nice grab.

I really don't know, but this record does it turn up often?

mike lane on buddy 127.jpg

Here's another one on Buddy. Nice teen sound. Does anyone know what year this was released?

The only thing you can hear is the sound of the wind ruffling the floor of this beast of a tent I got for Christmas... 4 lbs and and it'll sleep 4. photo-8.JPG
First time in years I've gotten nothing music related for Xmas.

Happy Holidays, kids!

The family got me these for Christmas...

Looking forward to giving them a spin!

I recently got the Ain't It Hard! collection too. I had waited for years to pick it up and the Sundazed holiday sale was the perfect opportunity. It's pretty solid.

Yeah, it's a really good album. The Sound Sandwich and Second Helping stuff might be the best content.

The Five Americans album is pretty awesome as well, but the Syndicate fails to deliver for me. "Little Girl" doesn't pack the same punch that it does on the single (which I still don't have).

The Wailers' track - I Don't Want To Follow You - is pretty killer as well.

Concerning Syndicate of Sound, having seen them at Cavestomp 2000 it's safe to say that "Little Girl" was their one moment of true greatness. No surprise, then, that the LP is not much to write home about. I have always passed it up myself.
