This is a snap of the Patriots from Hamilton Ohio, who put out one 45 on the Jewel label, an original titled "No More" and a cover of the Byrds "I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better". In TBM it's described as male/female vocal (and it does sound like that), but judging by the photo I think it's just very young guys singing, probably about 12 - 14 years old. It's a very nice tune for such a young band to have come up with.

The picture was tucked inside the sleeve of my copy of the 45. It's a very tiny photo, enlarged here.

Top Row, left to right - Bill Amiot, Mike Freshwater, Dale Gross
Second Row - left to right - Dave Freshwater, Dale Bunten, Bob Amiot
Photo taken at Purity in Oxford, OH. (Purity was a popular student hangout Uptown for a number of years. Seems like it was basically an ice-cream parlor/candy store).

I'm probably one of the few that hadn't heard this song before (and I like it).

I've listened to several male pre voice-crack songs that I could have sworn were female vocalist's. I'd imagine that without some band history, it's a common mistake.

Thanks for sharing the photo and supplying a music link!

And they're flag waving Patriots ta boot! Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, the brothers Freshwater. Who hang out at "Purity"! Despite the somwhat seemingly conservative patriotic trappings, the song itself is pretty hippy dippy, wanting love, no more hate. They probably weren't going for a San Francisco vibe, may have been a more biblical angle they were pushing but who knows? These are kids and those were simpler times. Any way ya slice it great stuff, thanks for sharing Mark!

Definitely hearing a Youngbloods' "Get Together" influence here in a big way, a lil Association feel in the harmonies too. But of course that thin layer of tape hiss (or vinyl surface noise?) and the simplicity of the arrangement make it better than anything from those California hipsters
