The Page Boys was the first thing that sprung to mind + The Cavemen - Its Trash . if the vote was for fuzz guitar solo`s it would be The Trojans Of Evol - Through The Night . do all copies have groove distortion for the break? i think it adds to the already out of character solo, but some may disagree.

I never heard any groove distortion on Trojans Of Evol... it's an incredibly trashy break though - and not very well recorded to say the least (which just adds greatness IMO) so maybe it can sound like groove distortion? Or maybe some copies have it - but there's none on my copy. And there's no groove dist on it on BFTG either as far as I know...

Actually, if the 70s were allowed it would open the floodgates. There are some VERY cool fuzzmonsters on 45 from this era.

Although pretty mainstream by Garage standards, the best and most unique fuzz sound to me is Davie Allen and The Arrows.

In a garage punk context, I'd have to agree with James, The Trojans of Evol.

My personal favourite fuzz-tone action Is The Plagues - I've Been Through It Before, hence why I did a cover version of said song myself (which can be heard on my webpage haha)
