My 5-0 is this week, and I'm putting together some music for a bar-b-que party. Can you folks point me in the direction of some oddball rockin' obscuros from 1962? Thanks in advance.

Where was I in 1962 ? In fourth grade & made hip to the soul 45s the Johnson Girls down the block had. Chess, Checker, Vee Jay, Okeh, Fire, Fury, Wand, Scepter, Modern, Specialty, yellow & black Atlantics, King, Federal, DeLuxe. For white girls they had it down - Dee Dee Sharp, the Orlons, James Brown & the Fabulous Flames, Tarheel Slim, Wilbert Harrison, Buster Brown, Chuck, Bo, Jimmy Reed, Major Lance, Chuck Jackson, Gene Chandler, Little Willie John, Hank Ballard, Freddie King, Etta James, B.B. King ... No Bobby Rydell, Fabian or Frankie Avalon for these chicks - they knew their stuff

They no doubt helped me on my road to ruin
